'Homeland' may have started off as a slow-burner, but the pace its been moving with in the last few episodes has made it really intriguing and compelling. 'The Designated Driver' signified the start of one final mission — one that would forever change the lives of Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).

There were startling revelations in the last couple of episodes, one of them was the fact that Russia believed they had a mole in their midst placed by Saul. This was the reason they sent in Yevgeny Gromov (Costa Ronin) to pair up and assist Carrie in search of Max (Maury Sterling) and the black box, that contained details of the chopper crash. It is safe to assume that Yevgeny would have definitely taken Max alive had the CIA agent not been killed by Jalal Haqqani (Elham Ehsas).

With the black box now in Russia's possession, Carrie's next plan would obviously be to convince Saul to let her go to Russia despite her surrendering to the FBI. The teaser of the upcoming episode, 'The English Teacher', gives a hint of what to expect after Carrie's return to the US.

You can watch the promo here:

The clip begins with Saul's voiceover that says "Everything Carrie does is because she never loses sight." This could presumably be after she convinces Saul to let her go to Russia. The next scene sees her confront him and ask about the "undeclared source" in the Kremlin who trickled in key bits of information. The extended clip sees the two speak about how Carrie's memorized data doesn't really come across as something convincing and accurate.

There are enough fan theories doing the rounds. As far as the storyline of the mole goes, one fan speculated: "I would assume Saul's Asset is Anna Pomerantseva. In the credits, it has a character as 'Young Anna' which will probably show a flashback to when Saul approached her to become a US Asset maybe back during when the US was backing Al Qaeda to fight the Russians in the Middle East during their conflict in the 1970s-1980s. Then flash forward to current times she's a bit older and played by an older actress. She will only appear 2 times in the series which are these last two episodes."

Only time will tell if this theory is valid.

'Homeland' Season 8 Episode 11 will air April 19, Sunday, 9 pm ET on Showtime.
