Hip-Hop icon Eric B's daughter Erica Barrier, 28, dies in Connecticut car crash: 'She fought a valiant fight'
CROMWELL, CONNECTICUT: Hip Hop star Eric B's daughter, Erica Barrier died on Monday, March 16, after a truck rear-ended her car on Sunday.
As news of 28-year-old Erica's death came out, many artists in the hip-hop community expressed their condolences. The news of her fatal car accident was shared on the Instagram account, Therealsister2sister2.0.
Her father said in a statement, "She fought a valiant fight, however, we TRUST GOD & HIS ultimate decision to bring her home… Please continue to keep our family in prayer as we now prepare to lay Erica to rest."
Eric, 56, also shared on Instagram, "We want to sincerely thank everyone from around the world for the outpouring of support and love during this difficult time. Again, we accept GOD’s will and want to sincerely thank the good samaritans, first responders and impeccable medical staff who cared for our daughter at Hartford Hospital."
He also shared his thoughts with the other driver who was a 28-year-old male and made it clear that there was no ill will. "This was an unfortunate vehicular accident that claimed her life, however, and it’s also crucial that we pray for the other driver involved. Our hearts also go out to him and his family as we hold no ill will in our hearts for those involved," the producer shared.
LL Cool J shared a throwback picture of Eric B and Erica from her childhood and wrote, "My love and condolences to you @therealdjericb, Erica’s Mother and the rest of your family & Friends. May your daughter rest peacefully."
Russel Simmons wrote "Rest in power Erica, everyone please send thoughts and prayers to Eric B’s family. There are no words for my sorrow. Believe that the passing of a child before his or her Parent is the most painful experience one can endure m. My prayers go out to Eric B and his family."
Erica's Mini Cooper had stopped in the center lane of I-91 just after midnight on Sunday morning. A truck that was behind the car was unable to stop and rear-ended her vehicle, People reported. It was initially reported that she was in a critical condition post sustaining serious injuries from the crash.
The other person in the car was believed to be unharmed in the accident, which is still under investigation.
