President Donald Trump was soundly criticized after he apparently ordered the troops in the capital to fire tear gas at groups of peaceful protesters in order to make his way from the White House to St John's Episcopal Church in Washington DC during the height of the protests started after the death of George Floyd.

Now, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton has accused the POTUS of attempting to 'hijack' Christianity with what followed after he reached St John's church. Trump was recently seen posing with the bible while outside St John's Episcopal Church. While speaking to Sky News Hillary claimed that Trump has never read the bible and said, "He can't tell you a single thing that's in it."

"That has been a pattern. He’s tried to hijack Christianity and the Bible in ways that are deeply hypocritical and that was just another occasion." She also criticized Trump for calling George Floyd protesters "thugs" during the anti-racism protests. Floyd was killed while being arrested by an ex-cop, Derek Chauvin, who knelt on his neck for almost 9 minutes sparking nationwide outrage.

"They were totally peaceful protesters and what he was trying to do, as he often does, is to mischaracterize them and their behavior and their goals and lump them in with the tiny, tiny minority who took advantage of a tragic moment to loot and steal and vandalize — a tiny, tiny percentage — and he wanted to cast that over the millions of very thoughtful, non-violent peaceful protesters," she said.

"There should be no tolerance for violent protest and certainly that was not at the core of the literally millions of people who have come out to protest peacefully over the last several weeks," Hillary added, Breitbart reports.

While the country protested the death of Floyd, Trump was slammed for being allegedly cooped up inside a secret bunker located inside the White House, earlier this month. He received a lot of backlash for going into hiding and seemed desperate in need to revamp his image.

As a result, Trump decided to walk down to the St John's Episcopal Church from the White House through Lafayette Park on Monday, June 1 where his accessory of choice for a photo op was none other than the Bible. He held a Bible close to him, as he posed for the cameras. The US Park Police, however, denied claims by Democrats and the corporate media that the whole opportunity was made possible because they used tear gas to disperse the crowds gathered there.

They released a statement where they said, "At approximately 6:33 pm, violent protesters on H Street NW began throwing projectiles including bricks, frozen water bottles, and caustic liquids. The protesters also climbed onto a historic building at the north end of Lafayette Park that was destroyed by arson days prior."

"Intelligence had revealed calls for violence against the police, and officers found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the street. As many of the protesters became more combative, continued to throw projectiles, and attempted to grab officers’ weapons, officers then employed the use of smoke canisters and pepper balls. No tear gas was used by USPP officers or other assisting law enforcement partners to close the area at Lafayette Park. Subsequently, the fence was installed."
