Hillary Clinton has reportedly shut down rumors that she might consider serving as 2020 Democratic hopeful Michael Bloomberg's running mate were he to become the party's presidential nominee.

“Oh, no. I’m just waiting and watching as this plays out. I will support whoever the nominee is because I think, for all the reasons you can imagine, and here in Puerto Rico there are many, we need to have a new president for our country,” she told the moderator at a Clinton Global Initiative event held in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, Fox News reports.

The former secretary of state played down the idea of becoming Vice President last week as well.

"Well, that's not going to happen," Hillary told Ellen DeGeneres on her show on Thursday, February 13.

“I never say never because I do believe in serving my country -- but it's not going to happen,” she added during the interview, noting how former President Obama had asked her to be his secretary of state after their arduous primary race in 2008.

During the appearance, Clinton posited that Trump's conduct as president highlights the double standard faced by female candidates.

"We've got one of the most emotionally acting-out people ever in the history of our country in the White House and I don't hear anybody saying, 'He's just too emotional,'” Clinton said, after having lost the 2016 general election to the former real-estate mogul.

In a conversation with BBC last November, Clinton said “many, many, many people” were urging her to consider running for president again.

“I, as I say, never, never, never say never... But as of this moment, sitting here in this studio talking to you, that is absolutely not in my plans," she had stated.

That said, Hillary Clinton would face an uphill battle if she does enter the race as a 2020 presidential candidate. She has already missed the primary voting in several states as well as the deadline to be on the Democratic ballot in most others.
