Hillary Clinton targets Trump again, posts fake JFK letter sent to Nikita Khrushchev mocking his undiplomatic note to Erdogan
Ever since an impeachment inquiry was launched against President Donald Trump over allegations of him pressuring his Ukrainian counterpart to score political points at home, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton has made herself more visible. She has been found to be making statements often about Trump and other issues related to next year’s presidential elections compelling many to think that she could join the race again. Hillary lost the contest to Trump in 2016 and still regrets the loss.
Hillary recently targeted Trump once more with a tweet that shows a parody of a communication between former president John F Kennedy (1961-63) with the former premier of the erstwhile Soviet Union Nikita Khrushchev (1953-64) that mirrored the language style of a recent letter that Trump sent to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Trump’s October 9 letter, which was in relation to Turkey’s offensive launched in Syria threatening the Kurds, surprised many quarters as its tone lacked the composure of diplomatic exchanges (the president told Erdogan “Don’t be a fool!”).
Erdogan reportedly trashed Trump’s letter immediately and told the media that Turkey hasn’t and will not forget it.
Hillary's parody dates back to Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962
Hillary’s parody, on the other hand, dates back to the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 when the two superpowers had almost turned the Cold War into a hot one over the Soviet deployment of nuclear missiles in Cuba which is located near the American shores. The escalation looked threatening till the United Nations jumped in to cool things down.
The fake letter from JFK started with the words: “Don't be a dick, ok? Get your missiles out of Cuba. Everybody will say 'Yay! Khrushchev! You're the best!' But if you don't everybody will be like 'what an asshole' and call your garbage country ‘'The Soviet Bunion’.” Hillary captioned the fake letter as something "Found in the archives".
A part of Trump’s letter to Erdogan read: "History will look upon you favorably if you get this done the right and humane way. It will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don't happen. Don't be a tough guy. Don't be a fool!”
He also wrote: “Let’s work out a good deal! You don’t want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don’t want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy—and I will. I have worked hard to solve some of your problems. Don’t let the world down.”
The JFK letter’s parody also ended on a similar note: “You're really busting my nuts here. Give you a jingle later. Hugs, John Fitzgerald Kennedy.”
Trump's threats haven't rattled Turkey at all
Trump has come under massive criticism after he abruptly decided to pull out American troops from northern Syria on October 6 after a phone call with Erdogan. The Turkish strongman was waiting for this opportunity and went in for the kill against the Kurds -- America’s local ally who helped defeat the Islamic State but are seen as terrorists by Ankara. Trump threatened Turkey with dire consequences if it went off the limits against the Kurds but Ankara cared little.
