Houston high school teacher's aide, 51, who had sex with 16-year-old student arrested after grandma finds sexts on his phone
HOUSTON, TEXAS: A 51-year-old Texas high school teacher's aide has been accused of sleeping with a 16-year-old student in a storage unit as well as at the boy's home.
Tedria Fluellen, who was a teaching assistant at the Worthing High School in Houston, Texas, was charged with the sexual assault of a child under 17. Fluellen is also being accused of sleeping with an underage male teenager since the beginning of 2018.
She was seen in court on Friday, November 22, night and had her bond set at $40,000. According to a report by ABC, the judge had told her that "this is a public safety issue, even though these are only allegations at this time".
According to court documents obtained by the Houston Chronicle, the student who is now 17 shared with investigators that Fluellen had coerced him into having oral sex.
The two knew each other from school and also from attending the same Baptist church. KHOU reported that investigators had been told by the boy that he would go to Fluellen's home in order to help her do things and retrieve items from the storage unit.
The boy also shared that the two had known each other for around two to three years. Before Fluellen's arrest, the two had around four sexual encounters.
The boy's grandmother had called the police about the alleged sexual abuse after she found sexts and pictures that the pair had exchanged on the boy's phone. The boy also alleged that the Fluellen had once said to him, "You don't have to be gay" before making an advance.
During the police interview, Fluellen had admitted that she had performed oral sex on the boy but denied that there was any sexual penetration. According to jail records, Fluellen is still currently in jail and is scheduled to appear in court on December 2.
