'High Fidelity' Season 1: Fans are loving Hulu's gender-swapped series, from throwbacks to the 2000 film to music
Hulu's TV series adaptation of 'High Fidelity' came out on Valentine's Day and fans are wasting no time in binging the new show and feeling nostalgic for the 2000 film starring John Cusack, Iben Hjejle, and Lisa Bonet.
Lisa Bonet's daughter, Zoë Kravitz plays Rob, played by Cusack in the film. The film and the series are both based on the 1995 novel of the same name by the British writer, Nick Hornby.
Viewers have been reacting warmly to the new adaptation, with special appreciation being shown for the throwbacks to the film adaptation as well as the music included in the movie.
One fan tweeted, "The fact that Zoe Kravitz wears all the same clothes that John Cusack did in the 2000 film in this new High Fidelity show is both baffling and such a treat. Color me SENT." Another wrote, "Loving #HighFidelity the story, the music, the cast, and the beautiful talented @ZoeKravitz. what a journey she takes us on!"
A viewer wrote, "I'm in the generation of (typically White) boys/men who really loved High Fidelity. I even read the book. So far, after one episode, the new one with Zoe Kravitz is an excellent modern adaptation."
Viewers have high praise for Kravitz, with one tweeting, "I’m really liking this #HighFidelity show on Hulu. I think bc it’s very much like the movie and Zoe Kravitz is winning. I do wish they’d kept the show in Chicago though."
Fans also noted they loved the show because of their love for the 2000 film. One fan wrote, "I really like the new #HighFidelity, but maybe just because it reminds me of how much I love the old High Fidelity."
Another viewer tweeted, "I thought the new #HighFidelity was PERFECT! I love the 2000 movie and I thought this was the perfect blend of modern and paying homage to the original. I hope there’s more to come in the future!"
