LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: There’s no doubt that Apple TV+ has had an incredibly successful year so far. The streaming platform has churned out some brilliant shows like ‘Shrinking', ‘Silo', and ‘Hello Tomorrow!’, amongst others. Along with introducing viewers to new shows, Apple TV+ has continued some beloved shows like ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘Schmigadoon'. However, now every show has had the same fate.

In an unexpected turn of events, Apple TV+ has canceled ‘High Desert’ after just one season. Starring Patricia Arquette, it didn’t take long for ‘High Desert’ to become a fan favorite, but by the looks of it, it didn’t do as well as the other shows. Now, the streamer must face the backlash as heartbroken fans have taken over social media to express their disappointment.

Arquette breaks the news to fans

Arquette, who played Peggy Newman on ‘High Desert’, took to Instagram to break the news to her fans and anyone who followed the Apple TV+ series. In the video, she said, “A lot of you have asked about High Desert and if there was going to be a second season. So, I just want you to know what I just found out, that it won’t be coming back, so that’s a sad bummer for all of us." Arquette thanked the crew, writers, her fellow actors, and fans. She ended the video by saying, “You can’t win ‘em all, it sucks,” and went on to joke a little about hugging her cactus, trying to keep the mood light. Her video is titled ‘It stinks’ and the emotion seems to have found resonance with fans.

‘Big mistake’

Fans of ‘High Desert’ haven’t taken well to this news and expressed their disappointment on social media. One fan wrote, “Truly bummed that we’re not getting more HIGH DESERT, but I still highly recommend checking this show out on Apple TV+. Smart, funny, and Patricia Arquette’s performance is instantly iconic.” Fans are also shocked by the suddenness of the decision, considering ‘High Desert’ was only released in May. One fan tweeted, “I don't understand why @AppleTV was so quick to cancel High Desert. It just came out. I have three streaming services and lots of shows in my queue. I can't watch everything immediately.” Another fan addressed the streaming platform and wrote, “I've loved #PatriciaArquette since #Medium and I was really so happy to have her finally back on my screens... Is such so bad that has been for just a limited time... @AppleTV why?? Is there a petition to #HighDesert #SaveHighDesert? 🙏🏻”

Some angry fans even threatened to ditch Apple TV+. One of them wrote, “Now that @TedLasso is over and High Desert has been canceled I’m finding it hard to keep my @AppleTV subscription. #bummer.” It is still too early to say if ‘High Desert’ will be picked by another streaming service, but it appears fans are hell-bent on saving it. One tweet read, “This sucks!!! #HighDesert is a great show & very entertaining. I love it & was looking forward to S2. @patty_arquette is great in it along with the other actors. Big mistake, @AppleTV #SaveHighDesert.” A dejected fan summed up everyone's feelings, writing, “So now they canceled high desert on @AppleTV what the F*CK is happening.”
