Fans want Helena Bonham Carter to win 'Most Awkward Kiss' Award after her BAFTA mishap
The actress arrived with James Ivory at the BAFTA 2018 held in London.
Helena Bonham Carter became the toast of cyber media last night after a slightly awkward missed kiss with screenwriting icon James Ivory at the BAFTAs. The actress was seated near the playwright who won the Best Adapted Screenplay at the awards ceremony in London last night.
Earlier that night Helena, 51, walked the red carpet gracefully with James Ivory, 89, but by the time they got inside, live cameras at the event managed to capture an embarrassing blip.
James, who was nominated for the screenplay and as a producer for Call Me By Your Name, was congratulated by the Harry Potter star for his win, but clearly, the congratulatory kiss did not go as planned as she ended up kissing his shoulder.
Clearly eager to pick up his gong, James unwittingly swerved Helen’s display of affection, leading to the hilarious moment. But, ever the consummate professional, Helen managed to style it out with a friendly pat on the back instead.
It was, however, too late for the awkward blunder to go unnoticed with eagle-eyed viewers, who took to Twitter in their droves to comment on the gaffe. But despite kiss gate, Helena still managed to make sure that all eyes were on her for the right reasons too.

Call Me By Your Name wins first award of the night (out of many, I hope!) for Best Adapted Screenplay. Helena Bonham Carter should also win an award for most awkward kiss of the night (she got James Ivory’s shoulder) 💋 #BAFTAs— Rhianna Dhillon (@RhiannaDhillon) February 18, 2018
