'The Flash': The offensive tweets that got Hartley Sawyer fired from the show and The CW's new headache

While these tweets dated back as far as 2014, not one Arrowverse fan could believe Sawyer could have done this

The sins of the past have caught up with Hartley Sawyer. And when they did, it ended with him being fired from 'The Flash' after a series of offensive comments was made by the actor on his Twitter account. While these tweets dated back as far as 2014, not one Arrowverse fan could believe Sawyer could have done this. He joined the cast of the show in Season 4 as PI Ralph Dibny, a shrewd and sleazy detective. Over the seasons, he gained abilities becoming the Elongated Man and joined team Flash.

However, for all the fans he earned over the years, these shocking tweets have all but ensured that he will be one of the most hated people for years to come. His tweets were found to be sexual and misogynistic. Fans on Twitter have been posting screenshots of the previous tweets. One of his tweets read: "As a lad, one of my favorite activities was kidnapping homeless women and chopping off their breasts."  (A screenshot of this post was tweeted by a fan).

Another screenshot of a tweet by a fan saw him say, "If I had a wife, I would beat the hell out of her tonight lol." A fan compiled a bunch of offensive tweets and uploaded them on Twitter. One of them read: "Out at dinner and I exposed myself as a racist, AGAIN. For now, the biggest question is to see what the producers of 'The Flash' will do about the character. Will Ralph Dibny be recast or is there a way of writing him out of the show.

This development also throws them in a dilemma. Just the previous season, the show introduced Natalie Dreyfuss as Sue Dearbon, Dibny's future wife in the comics. For now, fans have theorized that Sawyer most probably will be written out that, but for now, everything still seems pretty much up in the air. Only time will tell how Season 7 of 'The Flash' will pan out. This is the second heartbreaking news for Arrowverse fans as actor Ruby Rose previously exited 'Batwoman', which has led to the character, Kate Kane, officially being dispensed of.

What are your thoughts on Sawyer's offensive tweets?
