Call it coincidence or conspiracy, but the latest happenings of the world were long predicted by the dystopian political thriller and action film 'V for Vendetta' nearly one-and-a-half decades ago.  One of the dialogues from the film, which reads, "People should not be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people", couldn’t have held more value than in the present times, which has seen unexplainable events unfold.

When everyone was still struggling to survive the pandemic, the tragic death of George Floyd has left people further distraught. And while we ar trying to get our head wrapped around everything that’s befallen mankind, internet users can’t help but widely talk about 'V for Vendetta', especially after a video from international hacktivists Anonymous started circulating on the internet.

The video released on Saturday, May 30, Anonymous talks about bringing justice to George Floyd and exposing the wrongdoings of the federal government, which has movie buffs wondering if the hacktivists have anything to do with the 2005 movie, which also touches upon similar issues. James McTeigue's movie also features the St Mary virus, which claims over 100000 lives, eerily similar to the deaths caused by the novel coronavirus.

Today (May 31), the Natalie Portman-starrer began to trend on Twitter as fans starting flooding social media with hundreds and thousands of tweets, drawing similarities between for 'V for Vendetta' and international hacktivists Anonymous.

One user wrote, "This is literally a movie. Anonymous was trending, and now V for vendetta is trending. We are being invaded by our own millitary. Any government that has to treat its citizens like this is obviously doing something wrong." Another shared, "I remember this scene vividly from this movie. also, the messages and themes from v for vendetta teach us to stand together to get the justice we deserve. KEEP GOING DONT GIVE UP."

Meanwhile, another Twitter user wrote, "2020 is like a movie night where no one can agree what to watch. we've gone from to 28 days later to the purge franchise and now its V for Vendetta time." Another shared, "I feel like V for Vendetta is practically the reason why many of us even found the voice to speak out right now."
