‘The Voice’ Season 19 has finally kicked off the Knockouts and in the premiere episode of the same, we saw contestants Payge Turner and Ryan Berg from Gwen Stefani’s team locking horns on their personally picked songs. Turner crooned ‘Creep’ by Radiohead to mesmerise the judges, whereas Berg opted for ‘Makin’ Me Look Good Again’ by Drake White to fight for the next round. Both the singers also got crucial tips from mega mentor Usher, who has also been a judge in one of the earlier seasons of the singing reality show.

After earning praises from all the coaches, when it came to Gwen Stefani to take the final call, she picked Turner over Berg for the next round which left the social media users appalled and disappointed. Unfortunately, none of the judges used the “steal” option to save Berg which further pissed off the Internet. A majority of the users felt Berg should have been picked over Turner.

Speaking on the same lines, one user tweeted, “@NBCTheVoice how does one get a standing ovation, but not saved? I refuse to watch this show if Ryan Berg isn’t on it. There better be a plot twist coming up @johnlegend @kellyclarkson @blakeshelton @gwenstefani - @SimonCowell help us.” Another said, “#TheVoice payge turner and ryan berg and I wanna say the winner of this knockout is payge turner and ryan berg deserve a steal here.”

A user added, “Ryan berg you mind if i steal your voice for a couple days record some songs win some grammys and then i’ll give it back to you #TheVoice.” Taking a dig at judges’ comments on Berg, one posted, “Could y’all please come up with something new to say about a voice besides “your tone and that rasp” to maybe educate us as an audience? Help us understand why you make some of the dumb choices you make. “Rasp” doesn’t seem like a good reason if literally everyone has it...” Another quipped, “How the heck did page payge just win over ryan? Sorry that was 1000000x wrong.” One posted, “You let Ryan go home? Are you insane. They were both awesome. Someone should have saved Ryan. He's got an amazing voice. Dumb decision not to steal him.”

Berg had an impressive start at ‘The Voice’ Season 19 blind auditions when he had completely floored Stefani and John Legend with his rendition of John Mayer’s ‘Waiting On the World to Change’. Coach Stefani was left so mesmerised that she even used a “block” to keep Legend from recruiting Berg. In the battle round, Berg sang Aloe Blacc’s ‘I Need a Dollar’ to beat his opponent Liam St John. However, he had to head home after the results in the Knockouts premiere did not come in his favour.

According to NBC’s official website, the 27-year-old singer’s father was a drummer who had introduced him to music when Berg was very young. Through singing in church and performing in theatre and choir in school, Berg felt music was his calling. For the past five years, he has been a full-time musician playing gigs both with his band and as a solo artiste.

The new season of ‘The Voice’ is being hosted by Carson Daly. Season 19 episodes are aired on NBC. Fans can also catch the singing reality show on the official website of NBC and on their official app along with the network's new streaming service Peacock. Also, we will see Nick Jonas returning as a judge on NBC’s ‘The Voice’ in Season 20, replacing Stefani. The American crooner earlier sat on the big red chair in Season 18.
