'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16: Jackson Avery and Levi Schmitt's Gryffindor connection charms 'Harry Potter' fans

Jackson Avery and Levi Schmitt bond over their love for Gryffindor and strike up an unusual 'Harry Potter' connection. Quite a cool pop culture reference, isn't it?

If you watched the second episode of 'Grey's Anatomy', chances are its connection with 'Harry Potter' might have tickled your fancy. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) has been fired from the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, but that hasn't stopped her from treating patients. 

At her community service a woman asks Meredith for medical help and she gets surgical resident Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli) to steal supplies from Grey Sloan. With his help, she gets medical care for all her co-workers. When the supervisor spots them and tries to get them back to work, Meredith points out how one of the employees needs to visit an E&T specialist to check up on the lump in her throat. 

She sneaks them into the parking lot of Grey-Sloan and with the help of Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) she gets her a clear picture of the cancer scare. Later, Levi confesses how he stole supplies from the hospital and asks Jackson to cover it up for him. "I am Gryffindor because I am brave and but sometimes I am stupid." The two bond over their love for Gryffindor and strike up an unusual 'Harry Potter' connection. Quite a cool pop culture reference, isn't it?

Fans are also intrigued by the reference and have been talking about it on Twitter. "Jackson’s a Gryffindor. That oddly fits very well. #GreysAnatomy," one user wrote and another said, "Jackson and Levi talking nerdy is the best thing ever #GreysAnatomy!"

Expressing their delight, more fans jumped in with their happiness. "First Dumbledore last week and now Gryffindor, what's with all the Harry Potter references?" "Levi and Jackson are Gryffindors we love Harry Potter references #GreysAnatomy," one tweet read and another user posted, "'I’m a gryffindor, I’m brave.” “...I’m a gryffindor too.' this @GreysABC and #HarryPotter crossover is something I never knew I needed, but I have never been happier."

As the third episode rolls out on Thursday, October 10 on ABC, we can only wish that the makers sneak in more such references to popular movies and TV shows to keep fans on their toes. Don't you wish for the same?
