'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16 is slowly heading towards a Grey Sloan vs Pac-North rivalry

With more doctors and surgeons moving to Pac-North, it seems the 'Grey's Anatomy' makers are slowly heading towards a rivalry between the two hospitals.

Ever since Season 16 of 'Grey's Anatomy' premiered on ABC, fans had been wondering what would happen after Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) were fired from the Grey Sloan Hospital. The two soon landed another offer and joined Pacific Northwest General Hospital.

Initially, Webber was skeptical about his new job but Karev convinced him to stay and look at it as a new challenge. In the fourth episode, Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) scandalous article brings a bad name to Grey Sloan and most patients are unwilling to get their treatment done there. The move benefits Pac-North as patients are then taken for surgery to their hospital.

Moreover, towards the end of the episode, Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) announces that he has joined Pac-North after Tom Koracick's (Greg Germann) restraining order. With more doctors and surgeons moving to Pac-North, it seems the makers are slowly heading towards a rivalry between the two hospitals. Fans seem to have already caught a whiff of it and have been talking about it on Twitter. While many find it to be an interesting plot change, others don't like the fact that an unknown hospital is coming into prominence.

"Wth is going on #GreysAnatomy ??? I’m so confused! Is everyone going to this other hospital that NO ONE has heard of these past 15 years?!? Yes, 15 years of our lives watching this show! Time to end it," one fan wrote. Another one posted, "Folks, I'm calling it now. There will be a #GreysAnatomy spin-off with the defected docs at Pac North. #Plot."

"Owen is now at Pac North. I still think it'll be a spin off when Ellen is done. #justathought #GreysAnatomy," one fan wrote and another one said, "Pac North is on its way to becoming the main girl #GreysAnatomy." One tweet read: "They're all gonna end up working with PAC North then Grey Sloan will merge with it #GreysAnatomy," and another said, "So is pac north the new mercy west ?? #GreysAnatomy."

With 20 episodes more to air in 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16, it is yet to be seen whether the makers are actually heading towards that angle and whether they have planned a spin-off with Alex Karev in the lead.
