GOT7's Jinyoung is 'booked and busy' after landing another K-drama role for 'Witch'

The GOT7 member will reportedly play the main lead in the upcoming K-drama, adapted from a webtoon titled 'Witch'

It looks like GOT7’s Jinyoung has nailed multitasking as he moonlights between being a K-pop idol and an actor on a daily. Ahgases were shocked to learn that GOT7 was finally making a full-group comeback in May 2022 but soon after that, it was also announced that Park Jinyoung will resume his role as Yoo Ba-bi (Bobby) in the Tving romance ‘Yumi’s Cells 2’, expected to premiere in June.

In fact, GOT7's Park Jinyoung has been “booked and busy” since the beginning of 2021. With the release of his solo track ‘Dive’ followed by one acting project after another, fans are extremely proud of the GOT7 member for his dedication to all his passions. On April 28, it was reported that a new acting project awaits Park Jinyoung as he has been finalized for another webtoon-based K-drama.

Actor Jinyoung to play the main lead in ‘Witch’

An industry representative revealed to Korean media outlets that GOT7’s Jinyoung will play the lead role in a new K-drama based on the 2013 webtoon series ‘Witch,’ written by Kang Full (aka Kang Do-young). The show is directed by Kim Tae-gyun, who has built his reputation since 1987. While reports also claim that Jinyoung has not officially announced being a part of the show, a confirmation is expected in the days to come.

Director Kim Tae-gyun is known for his work in Volcano High (2001), Temptation of Wolves (2004), The Adventures of Mrs. Park (1996), A Barefoot Dream (2010), Innocent Thing (2014), and Bad Sister (2014), among others. It has also been revealed that actress Roh Jeong-hui, who was last seen in the K-drama ‘Our Beloved Summer’ and ‘18 Again,’ is being considered to play the female lead opposite Jinyoung.

The plot of ‘Witch’

Based on a four-part 2013 webtoon of the same name, the K-drama ‘Witch’ (The Witch) will tell the story of data analyst Lee Dong-jin (played by GOT7’s Jinyoung), who falls in love with a woman who is called a witch. The K-drama will add to Jinyoung’s vibrant filmography that has only been growing since 2021, when he first worked on ‘The Devil Judge’ and followed it up with the K-drama, ‘Yumi’s Cells’. Jinyoung was also seen in the recently released crime-thriller movie, ‘Yaksha: Ruthless Operations’ while it has been reported that he is soon to appear in a double role for ‘Christmas Carol’.

Ahgases are now flexing on the fact that there is not one day that goes by without news about GOT7’s Park Jinyoung as an actor.
