Seems like actress Kim Go-eun is collecting K-pop idols and a new season of her Tving K-drama will feature none other than GOT7’s Jinyoung (Park Jinyoung) in the lead role as well as Block B’s P. O. for a special appearance in its second season. The K-drama is based on a webtoon of the same title that premiered its first season back in September of 2021. Starring SHINee’s Minho as Woogi for a special appearance with actor Ahn Bo-hyun in the lead role, the first season, fans were able to see the beginning of Yumi’s journey of finding love and growing up.

The season also teased a flirtatious relationship between Yumi (played by Kim Go-eun) and her colleague Yoo Ba-bi (Bobby) played by GOT7’s Jinyoung. It had been revealed that instead of having Bo-hyun resume the lead role for the second season, the show ‘Yumi’s Cells 2’ will see Yumi explore a new relationship with Bobby as she moves on her journey of self-actualization. While nothing is revealed about Ahn Bo-hyun’s appearance in the second season, Jinyoung is going to be playing the lead role in ‘Yumi’s Cells 2’ alongside Kim Go-eun.

‘Yumi’s Cells 2’ announces a June premiere

On April 26, Tving, the company that produces the K-drama announced that ‘Yumi’s Cells’ would premier its second season in June of 2022, only eight months after the culmination of its first season as of October 2021. Alongside the news of this premiere a teaser poster for ‘Yumi’s Cells 2’ has been released featuring the main lead - Kim Go-eun along with a few of her cell counterparts. It has been revealed that just like the last season, the second season of the show will feature daily life events from Yumi’s everyday life that is not both ordinary and special at the same time.

In the second season, with K-pop idol and actor Park Jinyoung of GOT7 fame taking the lead role opposite Kim Go-eun, fans can expect a new story to unfold in Yumi’s “Cell Village”. The teaser poster reveals a new side to Yumi who forgoes her signature small bob hair and replaced it with a long mane with bangs. With her “writer cells” and “love cells” appearing on the poster with Yumi, fans of the show can anticipate a romantic relationship blossoming in her life along with growth in Yumi’s career in the upcoming second season of the show.

Block B’s P.O lands a special appearance in ‘Yumi’s Cells 2’

‘Yumi’s Cells 2’ will also feature P.O (aka Pyo Ji-hoon) from the boy group Block B in a special appearance. P.O has been seen in popular K-dramas like ‘Hotel Del Luna’ and ‘More Than Friends’ among others will now appear on the second season of ‘Yumi’s Cells’ as one of Yumi’s colleagues named Control Z. Taking off on what fans could see in the webtoon version of the K-drama, the character of Control Z is part of Yumi’s group of colleagues alongside Ruby (played by Lee Yu-bi) and Yoo Ba-bi (played by Jinyoung).

Control Z works as Yumi’s illustrator and starts getting close to Ruby in what appears to be a flirtatious relationship between the two colleagues after a long period of one-sided crushes in both Control Z and Ruby’s minds. As the characters are staying true to the characters in the webtoon, fans are curious to see P.O play the character of Control Z who appears with long hair in the comic. Not just P.O but the second season of ‘Yumi’s Cells’ will also feature actress Shin Ye-eun in a special appearance after he much loved chemistry with Jinyuong in the 2019 K-drama, ‘He is Psychometric’.
