Golden Globes 2020: 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' bags Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy

The film has grossed $372 million worldwide and received praise from critics for Tarantino's screenplay and direction, acting, cinematography and production values

'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' walked away with the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy. Other nominees in the category included 'Jojo Rabbit',  'Knives Out', 'Rocketman' and 'Dolemite Is My Name'.

While the cast and crew of the flick took the stage, Quentin Tarantino, who helmed the film requested producer, David Heyman, to address the crowd. "Quentin is unpredictable. A big thanks to our maestro," Heyman said. 

The film has grossed $372 million worldwide and received praise from critics for Tarantino's screenplay and direction, acting, cinematography and production values.

The film is set in 1969 Los Angeles and follows an actor and his stunt double as they navigate the changing film industry, and features "multiple storylines in a modern fairy tale tribute to the final moments of Hollywood's golden age."

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 85% based on 515 reviews, with an average rating of 7.83/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "Thrillingly unrestrained yet solidly crafted, 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' tempers Tarantino's provocative impulses with the clarity of a mature filmmaker's vision." 

The film premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Palm Dog Award and was nominated for the Palme d'Or.

It also garnered five nominations at the 77th Golden Globe Awards for 'Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy', 'Best Director' and 'Best Screenplay for Quentin Tarantino', 'Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Leonardo DiCaprio', and 'Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture for Brad Pitt'.
