Police issue warning over disturbing trend of youngsters burning garbage bins and sniffing fumes to get high

Burning an empty bin releases both carbon monoxide and dioxide which starves the brain of oxygen making the heavy headache feel like a short high.
UPDATED FEB 21, 2019

Authorities in the UK issued a warning this week about an "extremely dangerous" drug craze that is sweeping across the country after many youngsters were reported sniffing "highly toxic" fumes from burning garbage bins to get high.

The strange new trend, which was seen most recently in Bolton, Greater Manchester, involves young people setting plastic wheel bins on fire and then inhaling the fumes to get high. It is believed that certain dyes that are used in the manufacturing of the waste bins are believed to create fumes which give the inhaler a buzz.

Waste experts issued a warning back in March 2017 on the situation but the authorities have only now confirmed further incidents taking place in Bolton, after police officers have found a melted black bin at a park recently.
