Gleb Savchenko and Elena Samodanova's ‘real love story’: How 14-year-long marriage ended in divorce
Dancing with the stars pro Gleb Savchenko has called its quits with wife Elena Samodanova after fourteen years of partnership. The dancing duo announced their split through an Instagram when Elena posted a picture of their family together, and captioned it : “After 14 years of marriage with my deepest sadness our road is coming to an end.”
Gleb wrote in his Instagram post, "We still intend to co-parent our wonderful children together who we love so dearly, and we will strive to continue to be the best parents that we can to them. We ask that you respect our family’s need for privacy and healing during this time."
The 'So You Think You Can Dance' choreographer also posted a seemingly cryptic post in her Instagram feed, which stated: “I don’t hate you, I’m just disappointed you turned into everything you said you’d never be.” The 37-years-old 'DWTS' pro also shared a picture of them together with their two kids captioning, “It is with a heavy heart that I tell you my wide and I are parting ways after 14 years of marriage. We still intend to co-parent our wonderful children together who we love so dearly, and we will strive to continue to be the best parents that we can to them. We ask that you respect our family’s need for privacy and healing during this time.”
The marriage of Gleb and Elena was what Elena always captioned as "real love stories" which "never have endings". The dancing couple, who originally met through their love for the craft, has two beautiful daughters Zlata, 3, and Olivia, 10. They also co-own a dancing studio Pro Dance in Los Angeles, which was originally a gift from Elena to Gleb as one of the dreams to have their own studio together.
Gleb and Elena had celebrated their 14th anniversary together in July, where Gleb shared to Instagram: "Two souls but with a single thought, two hearts that beat as one. Happy 14th Anniversary my love." Gleb also wrote a touchy caption for Elena’s birthday in October where he wrote, "Happy Birthday to my wife, my best friend, best mother to my kids, brains behind the operation and just simple love of my life. Thank you for being you! We wish you lots love and happiness, I hope you’ll have an amazing day, we all love you very much.” Gleb was recently seen in the 29th season of 'Dancing with the Stars' where he was paired with 'Selling Sunset's' Chrishell Stause whose divorce with 'This is Us' actor Justin Hartley made some headlines earlier this year. The duo got eliminated in the eighth week of the show on November 2.
Elena Samodanova is also a part of the 'DWTS' family. The dancer and choreographer was a judge of DWTS Russia and also worked as a creative director for the DWTS Live tour in 2016.
The couple who have danced together for almost a decade had recently spoken about how they kept their work and life separate. In an Entertainment Tonight post, Gleb said, “We've danced together for more than 10 years and we've been married more than 10 years, so we learn how to separate work and home.” The now-former “power couple” had tied their knots in 2006 and welcomed their first daughter, Olivia in 2010. Over the next couple of years, the dancing duo performed together in local dance competitions or in stage shows and welcomed their second daughter, Zlata in 2017.
In 2018, Elena said in an interview, "My present, from him to me," calling it “my new home.” She participated in the ten years challenge in 2019 sharing their journey in the past ten years with the caption “Time really flies.”
With news of the duo splitting, their fans are wondering what I might have happened. One fan posted, “I hope @Chrishell7 stays away from them. as one thats been through parents divorce as an adult it was still rough so i imagine it's a lot harder on children. i might drag gleb cause i'm not a fan of him but i do feel bad for his kids cause they didn't ask to go thru this. 🥺
