George W. Bush takes pizzas to Secret Service agents working without pay during shutdown, asks "both sides" to end it

The 43rd president asked "both sides" to put their differences aside, work together to put and end to the shutdown
UPDATED JAN 19, 2019

The longest shutdown imposed on the US government in the brinkmanship between President Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over funds for a wall has worried many citizens, including the 43rd president of the United States, George W Bush.

The shutdown has seen around 800,000 federal workers, including the Secret Service personnel, being affected, with many doing without a paycheck.

The former president while delivering pizzas to Secret Service agents working without pay in Florida asked “both sides” to put their differences aside, and work together to put an end to the shutdown.

Bush took to Intagram to share the photograph taken in Florida on Friday, which marked the 28th day of the partial closure of the federal government.
