'The Lincoln Project' co-founder John Weaver's alleged sexual overtures towards young men continue to make headlines and in what comes as new development, his fellow co-founder, George Conway, has distanced himself from the whole matter and denied all "close connections" with the disgraced co-founder. This came as a startling surprise to the world as they co-founded the project and have penned op-eds as well. Talking on 'Morning Joe' on Monday, February 1, Conway said he "didn't know John very well."

In addition to calling the acts "terrible and awful and appalling and unfathomable," Conway claimed. “Frankly, I only spoke to him a couple of times on the phone early on in the Lincoln Project. I just, it’s almost — I don’t even know what to say."

A previous article by Breitbart states the two co-operated on an op-ed in 2019. "In late 2019, Conway strongly promoted an op-ed penned by himself, Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson, and John Weaver, the last of whom faces accusations of sending provocative messages to young men. One of the accusers said he began receiving the messages as an adolescent," the article wrote. Meanwhile, Joe Concha, Fox News contributor and The Hill media columnist minced no words lambasting Conway.

"You didn’t know him very well? You co-founded this Lincoln Project thingy, raised more than $80 million last year going into the election and, oh by the way, there is an op-ed in The New York Times that you co-wrote with Mr. Weaver," Concha said on 'The Faulkner Focus'.

The denial also sparked an outburst on social media. "All Lincoln Project founders are sexual pedophiles....You think Russian Agent only one..." read one of the tweets. This was seconded by another who wrote: ""I didn't know John very well." John Weaver and George Conway were co-founders of the Lincoln Project. He wasn't just some random guy."

"Goodness. George Conway fails on every level as a man. You couldn’t trust him to save HIS life. You can’t trust him as a husband, a father, or a person standing in front of you in a checkout line. It’s unbelievable," opined one of the people.

The Lincoln Project issued a statement slamming Weaver as a "predator" and a "liar" among other things. "John Weaver led a secret life that was built on a foundation of deception at every level. He is a predator, a liar, and an abuser. We extend our deepest sympathies to those who were targeted by his deplorable and predatory behavior,” the statement read.

"We are disgusted and outraged that someone in a position of power and trust would use it for these means. The totality of these deceptions is beyond anything any of us could have imagined and we are absolutely shocked and sickened by it. Like so many, we have been betrayed and deceived by John Weaver. We are grateful beyond words that at no time was John Weaver in the physical presence of any of the members of The Lincoln Project," it added.
