Gay pensioner faces deportation back to home country where homosexuality is illegal because he doesn't have a boyfriend
An elderly gay pensioner is facing deportation back to his home country of Malaysia, where homosexuality is punishable with a prison sentence, because he does not have a boyfriend to prove his sexuality. The 67-year-old, Yew Fook Sam, has his stay in the UK on the line after multiple courts called into question his claim of being gay due to "numerous inconsistencies and discrepancies in his account."
Sam initially arrived in the U.K in 2005 on a visit visa but continued to stay even after it expired while working in the South of England. He was arrested in 2016 for working illegally and detained for 10 months in an immigration center before then being housed in Home Office accommodation in Liverpool, and eventually, in Kirkby, where he currently lives, according to Daily Mail.
