Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie tie the knot in Scotland
Actors Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, who played on-screen lovers Jon Snow and Ygritte in fantasy TV saga Game of Thrones, got married in northeastern Scotland on Saturday.
Harington and Leslie, both aged 31, tied the knot at Rayne Church in Aberdeenshire — Leslie looked straight-up gorgeous in a full-length white wedding dress with a lace bodice and intricately beaded veil that she secured upon her tousled auburn hair. The wedding gown was flawless and the lace sleeves were absolute perfection. The radiant bride also donned a cream floral headband.
And as she stepped out of the car, Leslie smiled at the crowd gathered outside the venue and said “Hello everyone”. Despite his A-list status, Harington arrived at the church in a mini cab. The groom looked dapper in a traditional morning suit.
The gorgeous couple then got into an old Land Rover decorated with paper hearts and tin cans and drove to the reception at nearby Wardhill Castle, which has been in Leslie's family for 900 years.
Dozens of fans and well-wishers had gathered outside the castle hoping to catch a glimpse of the stars. Speaking outside the castle, Leslie’s father, Sebastian, said: “We are absolutely thrilled for Kit and Rose.”
GoT co-stars Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Sophie Turner, and Maisie Williams were among the many celebrity guests who attended the event. Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, wore a stylish red mini dress, with a split down the side and over-the-knee black boots, while Williams wore a fashionable black jump-suit and ruby red stiletto heels. Williams, who plays Arya Stark, also carried a statement Kate Spade clutch.
Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, dazzled in a pink duster coat that she layered over a printed baby pink formal dress. Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, was all dressed up in a navy suit. Harington and Leslie announced the engagement in the Times newspaper last September, and the wedding date was submitted to the local registry office last month.
The actors met in 2012 while filming the long-running saga in Iceland, where they were playing Jon Snow and Ygritte. Leslie left the show in 2014, but Harington's iconic character has appeared in every episode.
Harington told L'Uomo Vogue that the on-screen romance contributed to the pair getting together, after filming in Iceland in 2012.
"The country is beautiful ... the Northern Lights are magical ... it was there that I fell in love," he said. "If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love."
