‘Game of Thrones’ creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are all set to work on a new project with Warner Brothers -- the adaption of the graphic novel ‘Lovecraft’ written by Hans Rodionoff and illustrated by Keith Giffen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Phil Hay and Matt Manfred are writing the script for the project. A Deadline report said the movie posits the question: “What if H. P. Lovecraft wasn’t making it up? What if the monsters he created are real?”

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (August 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937) was an American horror fiction writer whose work has now become a big part of popular culture. His most celebrated tales include ‘The Call of Cthulhu’, ‘The Rats in the Walls’, ‘At the Mountains of Madness’, ‘The Shadow over Innsmouth’ and ‘The Shadow Out of Time’.

According to Publishers Weekly, the graphic novel ‘Lovecraft’ takes a “surreal, psychosexual look at the American horror master's life story.” Per the review, the book blends “bits of biographical detail with Lovecraft's frightening fictional concepts to create a grotesque and disturbing visual experience.”

Earlier this year, Benioff and Weiss walked away from their deal with Disney’s Lucasfilm to launch a ‘Star Wars’ feature film trilogy in 2022. The duo cited their recent $200 million deal with Netflix as a reason they would not able to continue the project.

“We love 'Star Wars,'” Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. “When George Lucas built it, he built us too. Getting to talk about 'Star Wars' with him and the current 'Star Wars' team was the thrill of a lifetime, and we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything.”
