6 New TV Shows and Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, HBO Max and More

Fans of messy romance and love triangles don’t have to worry about which series they should watch this weekend. They just have to find a comfortable spot and grab a healthy snack to munch on. That’s because My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 is now available to stream on Netflix, having premiered on August 6 with all 10 episodes dropping at once. According to the streamer, “The Season 3 premiere picks up after Walter family patriarch George (Marc Blucas) was rushed to the hospital in the Season 2 finale. Protagonists Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez), Cole (Noah LaLonde), and Alex (Ashby Gentry), who are in an ongoing love triangle, must lasso a new set of crises.”

The second and final season of One Hundred Years of Solitude has premiered its first seven episodes on Netflix on August 5. But fans will have to wait for the finale, which is two hours long and is set to premiere on August 26. “The Conservatives, fearful of Colonel Aureliano Buendía’s threats, plot an attack that — by a twist of fate — brings Fernanda del Carpio from Bogotá to the town. When she marries Aureliano Segundo, one of the bastard Arcadio’s untamable twin sons, she gives Úrsula Iguarán her first legitimate heirs,” the logline reads. “The railroad’s arrival opens the doors to the banana company, which unleashes the town’s downfall and ultimately fulfills Úrsula Iguarán’s curse: for the races condemned to one hundred years of solitude were not granted a second opportunity on earth.”

The Last House is not an invasion movie. Actually, we humans are the actual aliens in the film. Can’t spoil anything more, so fans should watch the sci-fi horror themselves, which is currently streaming on Netflix after being released on August 7. The official synopsis reads, “The Last House centers on a family sealed inside their home with no way out. If that doesn’t sound nightmarish enough, their resources are running thin, and they must work together to survive not only a lack of essentials but also the mysterious, looming threat that is keeping them trapped inside.”

The whole illegal reptile business, which is worth billions of dollars, is exposed through a real-life investigation featured in a new HBO documentary series. It is based on Bryan Christy’s nonfiction book, The Lizard King: The True Crimes and Passions of the World's Greatest Reptile Smugglers. HBO sums up the five-part docuseries in a single line: “Reptiles weren’t the only wild ones.” The first episode premiered on HBO Max on August 6, with new episodes arriving weekly on Thursdays.

Sterling Point is a “heartfelt, coming-of-age drama led by 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin).” The best part is that all eight episodes dropped at once on August 5 on Prime Video, so viewers can binge-watch the series. According to the streamer, “Raised in New York City with her twin brother (Keen Ruffalo) and loving adoptive father (Jay Duplass), Annie's life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather's island in Canada. Hit Me Hard and Soft is the third studio album by Billie Eilish, which was released on May 17, 2024. It was followed by a tour in September 2024, featuring songs from the album. And in May 2026, her fans also got an “immersive concert film” released in theaters. It was billed as a “VIP all-access pass to Billie Eilish's electrifying sold-out Hit Me Hard and Soft tour.” The documentary, co-directed by Eilish and James Cameron, “brings their shared vision to life — the rush, the pressure, and the closeness she shares with the crowd, everything you don't see and everything you feel, through her eyes.” But now, the film is available to watch on the small screen after coming to Paramount+ on August 6.
