The Whisper Man Cast: Who Plays the Killer and Every Major Character in Netflix Thriller

Robert De Niro steps into the shoes of Pete Willis, who is “long retired after catching the Whisper Man, but he’s called back into action when children start disappearing.” As per Netflix, “When his own grandson becomes the resurgent Whisper Man’s next target, Pete reunites with his son, Tom, to hunt the killer down once and for all.” And who doesn’t know De Niro? He’s known for starring in The Godfather Part II, Taxi Driver, GoodFellas, Heat, Joker, The Intern, Casino, The King of Comedy, Once Upon a Time in America, The Deer Hunter, among other projects. 

Michelle Monaghan brings the character of Detective Amanda Beck to life in The Whisper Man. Beck is “the officer in charge of the Whisper Man case” and a “hard-nosed investigator who’s determined to catch her quarry with or without Pete’s help.” Looks like those two will butt heads in the movie. Monaghan is best known for True Detective, Mission: Impossible III, The Family Plan, Made of Honor, The Path, The White Lotus, The Best of Me, and Gone Baby Gone. 

Pete Willis’s son, Tom Kennedy, is portrayed by Adam Scott. In the thriller, Kennedy is a “writer and widower who’s struggling to raise his son, Jake, alone, a dilemma that only gets worse when Jake is kidnapped. Desperate to find him, Tom turns to his estranged father, Pete, for help.” Scott’s notable credits include Severance, Parks and Recreation, Hokum, Big Little Lies, The Aviator, Step Brothers, Party Down, and The Good Place. 

Hamish Linklater is cast as Norman Collins, a “prime suspect in the Whisper Man case.” But why? Because he is a “crime junkie with a house full of murderous artifacts.” Sus. Viewers may know Linklater from Legion, Barron's Cove, Fantastic Four, The Crazy Ones, Widows Bay, Nickel Boys, The New Adventures of Old Christine, The Big Short, as well as Batman: Caped Crusader. 

Michael Keaton appears as Frank Carter, the “psychotic Whisper Man, currently locked away for life in a high-security prison.” The interesting thing is that “Pete is the only person he’ll agree to speak to — a chilling proposition that comes in handy after Jake is kidnapped. If Frank is imprisoned, who is responsible for the crime? Pete is determined to find out.” Keaton is widely recognized for his roles in Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, Birdman, The Other Guys, Spotlight, The Founder, Out of Sight, and The Paper. 

Last but not least, Owen Teague fills the role of Frank Carter Jr. [Major Spoiler Ahead] Carter Jr. is the “inheritor of his abusive father’s murderous legacy. He’s the new Whisper Man. An employee at Jake’s school, he uses his position to scope out future targets in a twisted attempt to make his father proud of him.” Like father, like son. Meanwhile, Teague has become familiar to audiences through projects like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, You Hurt My Feelings, To Leslie, It, The Empty Man, The Stand, and Mrs. Fletcher.
