Task Season 2: All the New Cast Members Joining Mark Ruffalo’s FBI Team

Task is heading into Season 2 with a major cast shake-up. While Season 1 featured detectives played by Fabien Frankel, Thuso Mbedu, and Alison Oliver, those characters will not be returning for the next chapter. One familiar face staying on board, however, is Mark Ruffalo as Tom Brandis. The character, a former Catholic priest turned veteran FBI agent, led the original task force investigating violent robberies tied to outlaw motorcycle gangs in Philadelphia suburbs during Season 1. Season 2 will place Brandis in charge of a completely new operation with an entirely different team surrounding him.

According to Deadline, Task Season 2 has added Harry Melling to its growing cast lineup. The actor will portray Brennan Boylan, a DEA agent described as volatile and unpredictable. Many viewers still recognize Melling from his early years playing Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter film series, but his career has taken a very different direction in recent years. He has earned praise for performances in projects such as The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, The Pale Blue Eye, The Queen’s Gambit, and Pillion.

Adam Nagaitis is another new addition joining Mark Ruffalo in Task Season 2. Nagaitis will play Luke Clemmons, a steady and dependable DEA agent working as part of the new task force. The actor is already familiar to HBO viewers for his role in Chernobyl and has also appeared in The Agency. His film credits include The Last Duel directed by Ridley Scott. Beyond that, Nagaitis has appeared in shows such as The Terror, The Responder, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, among others.

Aminah Nieves completes the new task force lineup for Season 2 of Task. Nieves will portray Nataly Zamora, an FBI agent described as tough, direct, and fiercely protective of the community where she grew up. The character is also a young mother balancing family responsibilities alongside dangerous field work. The actress is best known to many viewers for playing Teonna Rainwater in 1923, the popular prequel to Yellowstone. She has also appeared in A House of Dynamite from director Kathryn Bigelow.

Mahershala Ali is also joining Season 2 of Task, though his character will not be working alongside Mark Ruffalo’s Tom Brandis. Instead, Ali will portray Eddie Barnes, a respected DEA agent in Philadelphia whose unit clashes with Brandis and his task force during the new operation. His arrival is expected to bring some spice to the story. Ali is a two-time Academy Award winner, earning Oscars for his performances in Moonlight and Green Book. He also received Emmy recognition for starring in True Detective Season 3.
