Mauricio Umansky is the latest contestant to leave Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Season 5. He voluntarily withdrew during Episode 4 after sustaining a cracked rib during a “milling” (boxing) challenge earlier in the season. He injured himself while fighting fellow recruit and former NBA player Matt Barnes. Umansky decided to leave the course just before the chemical warfare simulation task. He explained, “My rib is just hurting and if I'm going to be coughing and not able to breathe, I feel like it's gonna break further.”
In an interview with PEOPLE, Umansky admitted, “I had to make the decision to voluntarily withdraw. I did not want to medically withdraw, I wanted to voluntarily withdraw, because I wanted to do it with dignity, and I wanted to do it in front of the DS, not in front of the doctor. So I [bore] down and got myself to do that.”
