6 Netflix Thrillers to Watch This September, Including Angelina Jolie’s 100-Minute Taylor Sheridan Movie
Jaws
Those who don’t know about Jaws probably can’t call themselves true thriller movie fans! The 1975 classic went on to become a cult favorite and spawned a four-film franchise. Now, you can watch all four movies on Netflix, including Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, and Jaws: The Revenge. The films returned to the platform on September 1 after being removed last year. Meanwhile, the first movie follows a terrifying white shark that turns Amity Island into a nightmare. According to the official synopsis, “When an insatiable great white shark terrorizes Amity Island, a police chief, an oceanographer, and a grizzled shark hunter seek to destroy the beast.”
Lifehack
Lifehack, a screenlife thriller, initially premiered at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in March 2025 before receiving its official theatrical release on May 15. Now, the cyberheist thriller is making its way to Netflix on September 23. The movie follows “four teenage slackers as they plot to steal £24M from a tech billionaire’s crypto wallet. Armed with hacking skills, social engineering tactics, and cryptocurrency expertise, they attempt the heist of the century from their bedrooms.”
The Perfect Lie
Based on Saskia Noort’s novel The Dinner Club, The Perfect Lie is a Dutch drama that explores the “fallout among well-to-do friends after a mysterious fire.” The seven-episode mystery thriller premiered on Netflix on September 10. According to the streamer, “A close-knit group of friends with seemingly perfect lives slowly becomes entangled in a web of secrets, lies, and distrust when a house fire leaves one of them dead.”
Heart Eyes
What happens when you combine two very different genres in one movie? Well, that’s exactly what Heart Eyes does, mixing gory slasher horror with rom-com vibes. As the official synopsis puts it, “When a k*ller who targets romantic partners every Valentine's Day mistakes them as a couple, co-workers Ally and Jay have a deadly date with destiny.” Talk about a mortal misunderstanding! Originally released in February 2025, Heart Eyes became available to stream on Netflix in May 2025. We’ve included it on this list because, under a Sony Pictures deal, the movie is set to remain on Netflix for 18 months before moving to Hulu. So, if you’ve been putting off watching this bl*ody rom-com, now might be the time to give it a shot before it leaves the streamer!
Those Who Wish Me Dead
When it comes to action thrillers, you can rarely go wrong with a title from Taylor Sheridan’s catalog. Those Who Wish Me Dead brings together Angelina Jolie and Jon Bernthal for a survival thriller. Originally released in May 2021 simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max, the movie has now found a second OTT home on Netflix, where it arrived on September 1. The movie follows “a smokejumper haunted by her past [who] guides a boy through lightning storms, wildfires and rough terrain to save him from a pair of assassins.”
The Final Problem
And the final title on our list is The Final Problem, a new limited series. The official logline gives us an idea of what to expect: “In the spring of 1959, thirteen people find themselves stranded by a violent storm on a small island off the coast of Mallorca. No one could imagine what is about to unfold at the secluded hotel where they are staying: Elisa Mander, a quiet English tourist, is found dead. What initially appears to be a suicide soon reveals itself to be something far more disturbing: a murder.” All four episodes of the mystery thriller are set to drop on Netflix on September 25, giving viewers a complete mystery to binge-watch in one go.
