Mayday Movie Cast: Meet the Stars From Ryan Reynolds to Kenneth Branagh

Ryan Reynolds takes on the lead role of Lieutenant Troy “Assassin” Kelly, a “hotshot U.S. Navy pilot.” He is “sent on a top-secret mission into Russian territory at the height of the Cold War, the operation implodes, leaving him stranded behind enemy lines.” Reynolds hardly needs an introduction. Marvel fans know him as Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, from the Deadpool films. Some of his other notable movies include The Proposal, Free Guy, Green Lantern, Red Notice, and The Hitman’s Bodyguard, among others.

Kenneth Branagh steps into the shoes of Nikolai Ustinov, a “gruff ex-KGB agent with a penchant for American culture.” He’s the one who finds Troy after he gets marooned in the enemy territory. According to Apple TV, “Troy thinks he’s toast — but could an unlikely alliance between the two lead to Troy’s rescue and a bond neither saw coming?” Fans may know Branagh from Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, A Haunting in Venice, Wallander, The Devil Wears Prada 2, This England, Hamlet, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Marcin Dorociński plays the main villain, Alexander Volkov, a stern and forbidding Russian security operative. Volkov is assigned the task of tracking down Troy, which, as one can assume, turns into a cat-and-mouse chase. Dorociński is best known for Pitbull, The In-Laws, Minghun, Jack Strong, Dangerous Men, These Daughters of Mine, Manhunt, Mission of Honor, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. 

In Mayday, Maria Bakalova is cast as Anna Ustinov. And as you may have already guessed from the character’s last name, she is Nikolai’s daughter. Not many details are known about her role, but we do know that she resides in Moscow and is not on the best terms with her father. Bakalova has previously starred in Bodies Bodies Bodies, The Apprentice, Dirty Angels, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Bubble, The Honeymoon, and Triumph. 

Last on the list, we have David Morse, who stars as Harold Kelly. Again, does his last name sound familiar? That’s because he is the father of the main protagonist, Troy Kelly. Harold is gravely ill, and before Troy was assigned the mission that ended up being a catastrophe, he used to take care of his father. Harold becomes a source of motivation for his son as Troy tries to make it home safe and sound. Morse’s previous credits include The Green Mile, Disturbia, Looking Through Water, 16 Blocks, Proof of Life, The Negotiator, Concussion, and The Crossing Guard.
