Tulsa King Season 4 Cast: Meet the New and Returning Stars as Sylvester Stallone Stops 1 Actor From Leaving

Frank Grillo, who plays Bill Bevilaqua, almost exited Tulsa King ahead of Season 4. He thought his time on the show was over after Season 3 wrapped and his contract ended. But, Sylvester Stallone, who leads the series as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, personally called him and convinced him to return. Actually, Terence Winter’s involvement (which we’ll cover in the next slide) was what made him agree to come back.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Grillo revealed, “I think what happened was that there was a change in the people who were running the show, and it went back to Terence Winter, who was the original guy. He's my guy!” He added, “I spoke to Sly on a call. There's a thing about him that I love [so] much. As soon as he says, ‘Do you want to come back’, it's like your mentor or older brother saying, ‘Do you want to come hang out with me?’ I know it sounds weird, but if this is written well, and Bill is an integral part of it again, I'm down.”

Dave Erickson left Tulsa King after serving as the showrunner for Season 3. According to Variety's sources, he and Sylvester Stallone had creative differences, which created tension on set and eventually led Stallone to push for Terence Winter’s return. Scheduling conflicts also led Erickson to step away from Tulsa King's spinoff, NOLA King. However, he remains the showrunner of Mayor of Kingstown.

As for Winter, he returned for Season 4 as head writer and executive producer. For those unfamiliar with his role, Winter served as the showrunner for Season 1 before stepping down ahead of Season 2. But, he continued working on the second installment as a writer and executive producer.

Sylvester Stallone's daughter, Scarlet Rose Stallone, plays Spencer in Taylor Sheridan's crime drama. After appearing as a recurring character in the first three seasons, she has been promoted to a series regular starting with Season 4. While chatting with PEOPLE, the actress opened up about what it's like working alongside her father. She stated, “It's completely changed [our relationship] — a complete 180. We've been working together for the past five years, so now it's become very natural,” before adding, “Before, he was working constantly, so getting to work together for once is just an amazing opportunity.”
