Beauty in Black Season 3 Cast: All the Major Characters Returning and Leaving Tyler Perry’s Netflix Drama

Taylor Polidore Williams is officially returning as Kimmie, the HBIC (Head Bellarie in Charge) of the Beauty in Black hair-care empire, in Season 3. And whoever tells you otherwise is clearly lying. Because how could the show work without its lead star? Williams herself has teased her character’s storyline, saying that in Season 3, Kimmie will “step fully into her power with all of the support she needs.” She also added, “the final six episodes answer the question of, can she maintain it?”

There are a lot of rumors making the rounds on the internet that Crystle Stewart won’t be coming back as Mallory. But that’s not true. Fans who watched Season 2 know that Mallory has become Kimmie’s “unlikely ally.” About their uneasy partnership, Williams expressed, “When I read that in the script I was like, finally! Kimmie and Mallory have spent the whole season circling each other, but they’re also two of the smartest players in the room.”

So, Stewart clearly has an important role to play in Season 3. Otherwise, the shift from rivals to reluctant allies would lose much of its impact. Stewart herself has also teased what’s ahead for the characters, stating, “The tension, the drama, and the power struggles are only going to deepen from here and viewers are going to see these characters pushed further than ever before.”

Amber Reign Smith plays Rain, “Kimmie’s longtime best friend” who is “more like a sister to her.” Netflix has officially announced her return in the forthcoming season, so fans don’t have to worry about her leaving the show at all.

Xavier Smalls’ name is also being mentioned in online rumors that hint at his exit. Those speculations are completely unfounded. Netflix has already confirmed that he’s among the returning cast members in the upcoming instalment. Smalls stars as Angel, who has been friends with Kimmie and Rain since “they were young.” Smalls is not going anywhere, and fans will see him on their screens when Season 3 returns. 

Ricco Ross is also said to have washed his hands of the Netflix series, as per the words on the street. That’s because his character, Horace, the Bellarie family patriarch and Kimmie’s husband, is battling cancer, which has led some fans to think that the writers may be setting up his death. But that’s not going to happen because in Season 2, the Italian doctors inform Horace that the experimental treatments he’s receiving seem to be working on him. Horace is now working with Kimmie and Mallory, but Stewart warns, “They may be standing on the same side of the battlefield for the moment, but that doesn’t mean they’re not also watching each other very closely.” 

Mallory’s husband Roy is played by Julian Horton, who is also coming back for Beauty in Black Season 3. He has a “hand in the family business, and is always seeking approval from his father [Horace]. He copes with marital issues by being unfaithful to his powerful wife.”
