All the major deaths in 'The Boys' Season 5 finale

It was always supposed to end with Homelander dying in the end. The question was who would be the character killing the evil supe. In the comics, it was Black Noir, but the series made a major change to the final battle, pitting Homelander against Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). The supe meets his end after he's depowered by Kimiko's (Karen Fukuhara) chest blast that takes away his abilities. This sees Butcher take him on in a fistfight, ulimately killing him.

After making a case as Homelander's most trusted lieutenant for a major part of the final season, Daveed Diggs' Oh Father dies when he decides to take the evil supe's side till the very end. His end comes when MM (Laz Alonso) uses his own reinforced toy to seal his powers before he could launch his sonic boom growl. This causes an explosion finishing the supe instantly.

The Deep's (Chace Crawford) end comes at the hands of his own aquatic friends. After being castaway by Homelander in the finale, he takes on Annie (Erin Moriarty) in an all-out brawl that sees them battle by the ocean. After trading blows, Annie blasts him into the sea, where the angry sea creatures kill The Deep as revenge for his pipeline actions.

Terror the Bulldog's death lends the most emotional moment in the final episode. Butcher's favorite companion passes away in his sleep due to old age, which triggers Butcher's dark side as he decides to go on an all-out, supe-destroying spree.

One of the characters expected to die in the finale, Karl Urban's Billy Butcher meets his end, but not at the hands of a supe. Instead, his decision to kill all remaining supes with the virus designed to destroy them, forces Hughie (Jack Quaid) to take an unexpected decision.
Butcher and Hughie engage in a fistfight at the Vought Tower, and the latter shoots him just before Butcher could press the trigger to activate the supe-killing virus. He dies after a tearful exchange with Hughie.
