Most bizarre game show prizes of all time as The Price Is Right player sets history

Not many thought a pinball machine was one of the prizes you could win on a game show. But an episode from 1993's The Price is Right had fans up in arms with the arcade game staple as one of the prizes.

Monty Hall-hosted Let's Make a Deal became a talking point when it had two goats behind three doors. One of them has a Cadillac, but imagine taking home a goat. In the episode, Hall offers contestants a choice – stay with the first choice, or switch to another door.

As far as prizes go, Family Fortunes made sure the rewards were useful. That means winning a family portrait as one of the prizes. Essentially, a win saw the players earn some money, and a loss saw them walk away with a family portrait.

Another example of an English show where prizes are practical. Ready Steady Cook had a simple format — whipping up a great meal after two contestants were paired with a celebrity chef. Winners received £100, but the losers were handed a Ready Steady Cook dinner plate.

Winning was fun on Runway. It meant taking home a ticket to a holiday destination. Losing was way less fun with losers taking with them a copy of the newspaper from the day they were born.

Part of NBC's lineup, High Rollers, hosted by Alex Trebek, was met with positive reviews. However, their prizes weren't. One of them was a $10,000 fish bowl, minus the fish. Oof, brutal! That said, the show was still a winner with the fans.
