Phony
Phony is a coming-of-age mystery about a “teenager who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to discover his mom — his only parent and best friend — appears to have been replaced by an impostor.” The psychological thriller has eight episodes and stars Connie Britton and Sam Nivola. The show premiered on October 20 and is currently releasing new episodes weekly on Tuesdays on Hulu.
The Terminal List Season 2
The Terminal List returned on October 21 with its second season. And the best part is that all eight episodes dropped at once on Prime Video. The new season is based on True Believer, the second novel in Jack Carr’s book series. Season 2 follows “James Reece (Chris Pratt) searching for new purpose after finishing his list. But when the CIA corners him, Reece must clear his name by stopping a resurgent Al-Qaeda that has turned Reece's former ally to their cause. Reece will uncover a conspiracy that reaches from Moscow to Langley even to his own family's history.”
The Invite
The Invite is an R-rated dark comedy whose official logline reads: “Joe (Seth Rogen) and Angela’s (Olivia Wilde) marriage is on thin ice. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?” The A24 film received a wide theatrical release in July, but fans can now watch it at home. It began streaming on HBO Max on October 23.
Nobody Wants This Season 3
Are you looking for something “romantic, fizzy, butterflies-in-your-stomach” to watch? Well, we’ve got you covered because that’s exactly how Netflix describes the latest season of Nobody Wants This. The official synopsis for Season 3 reads: “After recommitting to each other at the end of last season, Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody) move into a home — and a relationship — that finally feels solid, embracing every exciting ‘first’ that comes with building their life together.” The new installment was released on October 22, with all ten episodes dropping simultaneously.
Lupin Part 4
Lupin, inspired by the legendary Arsène Lupin, released all eight episodes of Part 4 on Netflix on October 23. In the latest chapter, “Omar Sy reprises his iconic role as Assane Diop, the gentleman thief who has captured the hearts of viewers in France, and around the world. Four years after the end of Lupin Part 3, Assane is still in prison. For him, Lupin is no more: He wants to serve out his sentence and keep the promise he made to his son to go and meet their family in Senegal. But his plans are turned upside down by a mysterious announcement signed by ‘Lupin’.”
Moana
In Disney’s live-action reimagining of the animated musical, “Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.” The action-adventure was initially released in theaters in July. Now, the film is available to stream following its official debut on Disney+ on October 21.
