Fox News sniggers at Joe Biden's 'Web telescope mistake' only for network to be absolutely schooled
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News was brutally schooled online after host Laura Ingraham mocked US President Joe Biden’s reference to the James Webb Space Telescope, regardless of being unaware that a telescope by that name exists.
The 80-year-old POTUS talked about the telescope on Monday, October 30 when he signed an ambitious executive order that he called the most “significant” action that any government has taken on the safe deployment of Artificial intelligence.
“We’re going to see more technological change in the next 10, maybe next five years than we’ve seen in the last 50 years,” the US president said at a press conference.
“AI is all around us. Much of it is making our lives better … but in some cases, AI is making life worse,” he continued according to the Guardian.
The order — which will likely need to be augmented by congressional action — seeks to steer how AI is developed so that companies can profit without putting public safety in jeopardy.
Laura Ingraham mocks President Biden
During his address, Biden mentioned the James Webb Telescope when discussing the crucial role of artificial intelligence.
“And AI is helping the National Weather Service predict weather events, helping the Webb Telescope manage half a million miles of galaxies away — billions of light-years away,” he said.
The POTUS stumbled over the word “telescope,” which Ingraham and regular guest Raymond Arroyo thought was hilarious.
"Good lord," Arroyo said as Ingraham shook her head wildly and rolled her eyes, according to Huff Post. “Did he call it the ‘Webb telescope’? Isn’t it the Hubble? Is he thinking of Webb Hubble? I don’t understand,” Ingraham said, bursting into laughter.
“Who knows?” said Arroyo as they continued their laughing session. However, it didn’t look for Ingraham to realize the mistake she made on national television.
“All right. There is a Webb Telescope,” she acknowledged while fumbling many times over the term "telescope"—something they had both made fun of Biden for only a minute before.

“I stand corrected by Joe Biden,” she continued. Launched with considerable fanfare in December 2021, the James Webb Space Telescope is the most powerful telescope of its kind.
After the telescope was completely operational by summer 2022, the media, particularly Fox News, which referred to its photographs as "stunning" and "marvelous," covered it extensively.
Internet schools Laura Ingraham for mocking President Biden
Ingraham’s remarks have garnered immense social media attention, with users slamming her for mocking President Biden, despite being unaware of the existence of the Webb telescope.
“When youre on national tv and make fun of joe biden for calling the hubble telescope the web telescope and are doubled over with how funny it is without realizing theres a very famous james webb telescope,” one user said.
“They need to have their broadcasting license revoked. There's no legitimate content at all,” a second user wrote.
“I haven’t seen the Biden clip, but the Webb is the most powerful telescope made by humankind. Is there reason to believe that Biden misspoke at all?” a third user said.
“And their audience thinks they are brilliant. This is where we are. In the “information age.” Ha,” a fourth user asserted, while a fifth one stated, “Funny, launching the James Webb Telescope was a big deal just a few years ago. Are they faking the laughter, assuming viewers won't know?”
“The Webb telescope is amazing, they should be laughing at themselves for not knowing,” another user said. “O…M…Gosh! How can they look themselves in the mirror after crap like that?” one more wrote.
