According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fact that Dorff had a whopping per-episode fee of $250,000 (plus exec producer fees) was not helping

The rookie drama starring Stephen Dorff, 'Deputy' premiered on Fox at the start of 2020. Like a bolt out of the blue Fox has suddenly canceled the show after just one season. Created by Will Beall, it opened to bland reviews, most labeling it "silly" and "senseless".

The series ended its 13-episode run after being released in January. The coronavirus crisis has nothing to do with the decision, sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. The report also said the call was purely taken on the basis of ratings. The first season wrapped up on March 26 with an average of 3.66 million total viewers and a 40 per cent and 57 per cent rating among critics and viewers on aggregation site RottenTomatoes.com.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fact that Dorff had a whopping per-episode fee of $250,000 (plus exec producer fees) was not helping. Fans, however, want to save the show and are already approaching other networks on Twitter. "Hey @nbc remember how awesome it was when you saved Brooklyn Nine-Nine from the dumbasses at fox? Feel like doing that again? Can you PLEASE pick up #Deputy #SaveDeputy?" one posted.

"Hey @PopTV @netflix @hulu wanna do us a solid and pick up #Deputy since fox ABSOLUTELY SUCKS AND DIDN'T PICK IT BACK UP?!?" one said and another wrote, "Stop playing with me right now is @DeputyonFOX really canceled? Wtf man I love this show. This the only fox show I watch. Guess it will be the last." It seems like fans are really desperate to see the show again. Another fan posted, "Hey @netflix wanna a new show ??? #Deputy was amazing and would be a fantastic pick up. #please #please #please!"

Produced by David Ayer and Chris Long's Cedar Park banner, the show also stars actors like Yara Martinez, Brian Van Holt, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Sienna Goines and Shane Paul McGhie in key roles.
