A schoolteacher in India who raped a four-year-old girl so violently that she had to have her intestines realigned is set to be hanged next month for his crimes.
After the death penalty for child rapists was introduced in the country last year, Mahendra Singh Gond, 23, will become the first person to be executed for the heinous crime, Daily Mail reports.
Gond will be hanged unless the Supreme Court of the country orders a stay on the judgment.
According to the Times of India, the attacker kidnapped the girl last June from Jabalpur in the state of Madhya Pradesh before brutally raping her and leaving her body in the jungle, believing she was dead. Gond's execution has been fixed for March 2 after a high court confirmed the death sentence.
