Two former volleyball stars and their daughters, 12, died after a 'DUI suspect' crashed into their van while they were traveling to a tournament in Kansas City, Missouri, according to reports.

Carrie Urton McCaw, 44, and Kacey McCaw, 12, died along with Lesley Drury Prather, 44, and Rhyan Prather,12, after a 'DUI suspect' lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle crossed the median on Interstate 64, emerged into west-bound lanes close to Highway 364 and hit the minivan that was carrying both the families, reports Daily Mail.

According to authorities, Prather had been driving the vehicle and had no time to react. Upon seeing the horrific crash, witnesses rushed forward to help the victims. As reported by Fox 6, a witness Stephanie Huttegger shared, "Jumped over the guard rail, jumped across the highway. I don’t even know if cars were coming. I just went."

"As a mom, as a parent, as a human being, it was horrific. It was horrible. Checked the first car. It was two elderly people. Thumbs up is what they gave me," she shared. She then approached the pickup truck and asked the driver, who has been identified as Elijah Henderson, if he was alright.

When she reached the mangled minivan, her heart stopped. "Seen the two people, knew immediately," she said. Carrie McCaw and Lesley Prather who had been sitting in the front were both dead. The University of Louisville's athletic department revealed that they were all heading to a volleyball tournament.

Hutteger and an off-duty paramedic managed to free one child from the car and attempted to save her life with chest compressions for around 12 minutes until first responders took over. The young girls played for the KIVA Louisville Volleyball Club and each had three siblings.

Assumption High School posted on Saturday, "The community of Assumption joins with the St Raphael and KIVA communities as we mourn the tragic loss of Carrie Urton McCaw '94, her daughter, Kacey and their dear friends Lesley and Rhyan Prather. We send our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the McCaw and Prather families."
