Whether Aaron Wallace (Nicholas Pinnock) actually committed the crime or not, he had to bear the brunt of the consequences, when Glen Maskins (Brosi McGiver) managed to frame him for involvement in the trading of drugs. Episode 10 of ‘For Life’ begins with a flashback from nearly nine years ago, when Aaron first got convicted. The first few minutes of the episode presents before us a mild-mannered family man, who is only concerned about reuniting with his loved ones.

However, as each day comes along, Wallace realizes it is going to take more than just silence to navigate his time within the walls of the prison, a voice of his own and determination. ‘Character and Fitness’ skillfully shows Wallace’s journey from wrongfully incarcerated convict to a well-read legal representative, whose determination saves the lives of many, apart from giving him the hope to overturn his own case.

Undeniably, the latest offering of ‘For Life’ was one of the most intriguing story arcs the series has witnessed so far, as it touches upon aspects that were never addressed on the show before. It also reveals a different side to Wallace’s persona, giving us more clarity on what enabled him to survive prison, despite being threatening by fellow inmates for not complying with their illicit activities.

You can't help but wish to see Wallace free on witnessing some of the most heart-wrenching moments in ‘Character and Fitness’, from when the prison was headed by a different warden, who loved dictating terms and making the inmates’ living hell with his stringent ways.

From fighting his first case to obtaining a degree in law, Wallace has come a long way and been pivotal in redefining the functions of prison, which has given hopes to many who are similarly suffering like him at the hands of the legal system.

Although driven by desperation Wallace briefly considers resorting to violence to work his way out of prison, he soon chooses to rather fight using intellect when the other ways render his efforts useless. While the previous episodes emphasized on Maskins persistently taking down Wallace, the latest episode hints at the latter preparing himself with work of years to strike his enemy.

‘For Life’ airs on Tuesdays on ABC.
