'Flower of Evil' Episode 13 takes us back to 1997 when Hee-Seong was still a school student. He had intentionally killed a puppy by throwing a brick from the terrace. He had gone to the same school that Hyun-soo had gone to and because he was a good academic performer the teacher and his mother believed that he was suffering from depression. However, the only one who had found out the truth about Hee-seong was Hyun-soo's father Do min-seok. That is their first meeting and since then the man and the child had explored their inner demons together in the form of cold-blooded murder.

In the present, we see Hyun-soo and Ji-won arrive at Mr. Baek's house where the latter announces that she knows of everything that has been happening in Hee-seong's family. Neither Mr. Baek nor his wife can believe that Hyun-soo had told his wife the entire truth. So the two of them attempt to find out how much she knows and are shocked when Ji-won mentions that it is not the four of them in the house. She asks where the fifth person who lives in the house is and with no other option, Mr. Baek takes the two of them to the hidden room. They bury the entire truth about Hee-seong's part in the serial murder case. However, what Hee - seong and his parents are not aware of is the fact that Hyun-soo was only buying time for Jae-seop to confront the human trafficking ring leader. He hopes that this arrest will shed light on the truth about who the accomplice is. However, will things go according to Hyun-soo's plan?

Considering Hyun-soo is mistaken about the identity of the accomplice, the plan flopped exactly as we had guessed. With a single misstep, Hyun-soo ended up becoming a victim again and this time around Hyun-soo has to go up against Hee-seong. There is more at stake this time around and Hee-seong is a true psychopath who is a genius. So he had figured out the trap that Hyun-soo had set up was for them. So he has a counterplan. He gets his mother to also take part in the plan and Ji-won's instincts tell her that something is just not right.

As she had guessed Hee-seong used the time that Hyun-soo spent speaking to Mr. Baek to plant evidence and frame Hyun-soo for the house help's murder. After all of this, Hyun-soo leaves the house, frustrated that he cannot find the criminal. While he is struggling, his sister Hae-soo is in danger. Someone seems to be stalking her and Hyun-soo is clueless. He is unaware of Hee-seong 's grand plan. On the sidelines, the man who had helped Hee-seong with procuring humans who can be killed decides that he will not stay by the side and heads out to use his insurance. Turns out, Jung Mi-seok the last victim of Min-seok and Hee-seong is still alive.

This episode also is frustrating in a way because we see Hyun-soo get further mired in Hee-seong's plan. Despite Ji-won telling Hyun-soo not to get involved, he ends up falling for Hee-seong's trap. The body of the house help gets discovered at one of the mountains and the crime scene is similar to the ones of Min-seok's. After hearing about Hae-soo's stalker and recalling the voice of the blackmailer, Hyun-soo decides that Mr. Baek is not the killer's accomplice. As evidence emerges from the crime scene, Ji-won continues to feel extremely uneasy. All of her worries turn out to be right because the identity of the victim leads her to Mr. Baek's again.

Ji-won and Hyun-soo are in for a long struggle. When Ji-won decides to arrest her husband to clarify that he did not commit the crime, Hyun-soo begins to hear his father again and he remembers the time that his father had told Hyun-soo about how his mother had abandoned them. So he wonders if Ji-won too doesn't trust him and he even threatens her with a knife to her throat and leaves before she can put the handcuffs on him. Is this really the end of trust between Ji-won and Hyun-soo or is this the latter's idea to hoodwink the accomplice? After all, he still has to figure out who the accomplice really is.

'Flower of Evil' will air on tvN on Wednesday and Thursday at 10.50 pm KST and can be streamed on Viki Global.
