A Florida woman has been charged in the murder of her six-year-old son after she was found swimming naked in a lake and repeatedly saying, "God forgive me." 26-year-old Labreaunne Wilson was arrested on Wednesday for the death of her son Avion Borner. The six-year-old was found unresponsive by his maternal grandmother in a bathtub at a hotel in Orlando, the Orlando Sentinel reported. An arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet notes that Wilson was seen at around 2.25 pm dragging her son from Key Suites on Orange Blossom Trail across the street to Lake Tyler.

Wilson returned alone to the hotel after a few minutes, as captured in the hotel's surveillance cameras. Around half an hour later, she headed back to the lake and returned carrying the limp body of her son on her shoulder. Wilson went to the lake for a third time at around 4.30 pm, per the Sentinel. This time, she stripped off her clothes and entered the water. Witnesses saw her swimming naked and tried to convince her to get out of the water, but she reportedly kept saying, "God forgive me."

At around 4.45 pm, emergency responders arrived at the scene and pulled Wilson to safety. They rushed her to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she reportedly told deputies, "I think I killed my child."

In a conversation with News 6, Wilson’s mom and Avion’s grandmother Elandia Green said her daughter was diagnosed with "bipolar disorder and schizophrenia when she was 10". Wilson had been getting mental help regularly, and Elandia believes her daughter "wasn't herself" when the attack took place. “If I would have seen this spiritual get inside her I probably could have helped her, but I didn’t see it,” she said, before proceeding to gush about her late grandson. “He was just an outgoing child, he was good in school, they loved him,” Green continued. “I’m hurting, I’m lost for words.”

According to ClickOrlando, Wilson had made similar statements to bystanders at the lake and to a paramedic en route to the hospital.  Investigators soon learned that Wilson's six-year-old had been found unresponsive in the hotel room tub and rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Wilson was discharged from the hospital shortly after and booked into the county jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Speaking to authorities, one witness said she had spoken to Wilson in the courtyard of the hotel shortly before the incident. The witness said she seemed fine until about 2.30 pm when she suddenly grabbed Avion and said they had to leave.

Meanwhile, Avion's father said he was at work when it happened and said it wasn't like Wilson to do what she did. “Him and his mom were like two peas in a pod, that’s how I know it wasn’t her. She didn’t know she did that to him. It was just something inside of her that did that. I can’t say she’s a bad person,” said Michael Barner. “He was a great kid, not just a good kid, but a great kid, A kid you would want if you have kids, very respectful.”

That said, family members have set up a GoFundMe page to help cover Avion's funeral and other expenses.
