A Florida man has been arrested and charged after he was accused of pinning down his pregnant girlfriend with his knee and forcing her to smoke crack and then burning her forehead and her lip with the crack pipe.

Joseph Carlucci, 31, of Palm Bay, was arrested his past Thursday, October 10, at a Baytree Drive apartment complex by deputies from the Palm Bay Police Department, according to Florida Today.

The abuse he inflicted on his girlfriend, whose name was not revealed to protect her identity, was detailed in an arrest affidavit filed in connection to the case.

Besides forcing her to smoke crack and burning her with the pipe, the girlfriend told Palm Bay Police that Carlucci had also strangled her with her shirt while he was dragging her backward across the floor.

Photos taken by police seemingly confirm the allegations and show red marks on her neck, as well as burns on her lip and forehead.

Carlucci was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery in connection to the incident, with court records indicating that this was not his first run-in with the authorities.

The 31-year-old also faced an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court in an August case for possession of Xanax, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

In that case, the Melbourne Police Department had found Carlucci sleeping behind the wheel of a vehicle parked against a gate near the intersection of U.S. 1 and Hibiscus Boulevard, and following a search, had found numerous drugs in his possession, as well as a suspended license.

He remains incarcerated on a $31,000 bond at the Brevard County Jail Complex and is scheduled to be arraigned on November 7 at the Moore Justice Center in Viera.
