HAINES CITY, FLORIDA: A Florida man has been arrested and charged after he abandoned a boy, who is his relative, at a police station because he thought the child was gay. Evenaud Julmeus, 30, of Haines City, is said to have gotten in a verbal argument with the boy over his sexuality this past week after finding gay pornography on his phone, according to ABC News.

The 30-year-old reportedly "became very upset" with the discovery and ordered the boy to pack a bag and get into the car, which he did. He then drove the boy to the Haines City Police Department, which was closed at the time, and dropped him on the side of the road before heading back home.

Before leaving him, Julmeus allegedly told the boy that "the police will find you a new home."

A bystander who witnessed the incident called the police and a deputy who responded to the location eventually found him outside the building very upset and crying, according to court records obtained by Fox News.

An arrest affidavit said Julmeus had left him "with no one around, failing or omitting to provide the victim with care, supervision, and services necessary to maintain physical or mental health while also failing to make a reasonable effort to protect the victim from abuse, neglect or exploitation of others."

Detectives said the boy "did not have food, water, or money" or even a phone he could use to contact anyone, and that his mother rushed to the scene to pick him up when Julmeus went back home without him and told her he had left him at the police station.

When the authorities responded to their home to arrest the 30-year-old, they found he was not there and had left two other minors without any adult supervision. Julmeus was eventually arrested on Monday, December 2, and is facing three counts of negligent child abuse in connection to the incident. It is unclear if he has any legal representation at this time.

A spokesman for the Haines City police said they could not comment on his relationship with the boy because he's a minor and they want to protect his identity.
