First GOP Debate: Internet calls Ron DeSantis 'unelectable' for swearing to sign six-week abortion ban

Many internet users came forward to say that Ron DeSantis isn't fit for the White House

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Debate night for GOP leaders proved to be quite dramatic in the responses it invoked from both the leaders and the Republican audience. 

But the internet was equally active in sharing their opinions on the candidates for the 2024 Presidential Election. And most of them stood in disapproval of Republican contender Ron DeSantis' statements from tonight. 

The Florida governor was asked to share his stance on abortion laws, and aligning with his previous legal moves, he promised to work toward all pro-life demands. 

Many internet users were shocked by DeSantis' claims and came forward to say that he isn't fit for the White House. 

Ron DeSantis' consistent anti-abortion stance

DeSantis is known for the conservative and religious laws promulgated by him in the state of Florida as the governor. In April of 2023, he had worked on the passing of the anti-abortion bill that banned abortion if the pregnancy had passed the six-week mark. 

He backed his stance by sharing a story of a child who was subjected to three abortion attempts and also how the birth of his own daughter was one of the most "memorable" moments of his life. 

DeSantis also made claims that liberals who are for abortion and demanded the person who is pregnant to have control over their body's decision wanted to legalize abortion up until the point of birth. 

In assuring his Republican followers of a nationwide policy like Florida's, he provoked many people to speak up against him. 

Internet slams Ron DeSantis for unbelievable abortion story

While DeSantis was making his harsh comments on the status of abortion laws in America, the internet was criticizing him and didn't want him near the White House.

"Ron DeSantis is a lying dumb**," an angry user wrote on X, "He keeps talking about how he won in Florida on issues like the six-week abortion ban. He is saying Democrats support abortion to the moment of birth. That was not legal under Roe, nor do Democrats support it. America ain’t Florida. DeSantis is a f***ing liar. He will never be President."

Another user declared him unfit for being president as they said, "Ron DeSantis is an extremist. His 6 week abortion ban makes him unelectable. He’s radical and too extreme. By trying to get the GOP nomination, he’s made winning a general election impossible."

Many were not moved by his little anecdote about an abortion 'victim'. A user said, "Ron Desantis claiming he knows a woman who was born and then chopped up in two failed abortions before her grandma snatched her out of a bowl and took her to another hospital is one of the most egregious debate fibs I’ve ever heard."

They also found him to be a hypocrite as he talked about using military force on Mexico. A user referred to this and wrote, "Ron DeSantis on abortion: "I believe in a culture of life" Ron DeSantis an hour later on immigration: "Leave them stone cold dead"."

A user expressed their worry for a Republican rule, writing, "Ron DeSantis, who already signed a 6-week abortion ban in FL, is lying and projecting. The real danger here is that the second Republicans have the legislative ability to do so, they’ll pass a total abortion ban nationwide."

Others also criticized the blatantly wrong attack on the demands of Democrats in favor of abortion. One of them wrote, "I was watching the debate . . . had to stop! Moderators have lost control, Vivek is obnoxious, Ron DeSantis is still a hateful candidate . . . and they all lose me when they claim Dems want abortion up to the moment of birth! Lots of dishonesty on other topics too!"
