Spoilers for 'FBI: Most Wanted'

'FBI: Most Wanted', a spinoff from Dick Wolf's drama 'FBI', has never shied away from dark cases. The series' Season 2 premiere 'Rampage' was amazing with a case embedded with the Covid-19 pandemic storyline. We were also given a quick taste of the protagonist's FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jess LaCroix (Julian McMahon) life at home when his father, Byron LaCroix (Terry O'Quinn), comes to visit the family after being locked down in New Orleans for a while.

You could cut the tension between the father and son with a knife, even though the duo shared the screen only twice in the episode — at the start and at the end. Byron is a gambling addict who apparently still participates in bets and this is something Jess isn't okay with considering his father gambled away his college fund when he was young. We also got to know that Jess hasn't had a drink in three years, but we're thinking if Byron stays longer, that might lead to another problem?

'Rampage' ended with Jess hearing that Byron is engaged to his much younger fiancee, Marie (Rachel York) — from his expression, we don't think he took that too well. Usually, we would assume that Jess wouldn't let his family life get in the way of work — but is this news big and annoying enough that it would cloud his judgment? The next episode's promo seems to show a hectic case for the team where Jess can be heard saying, "Stolen credit cards to hacking a car to killing three people and a million-dollar extortion" with FBI Special Agent and Second-in-Command Sheryll Barnes (Roxy Sternberg) asking "who would have the chops to do this?" There is nothing in the promo that shows us how Jess reacts to his fathers' news, so we can only assume that he wouldn't receive the news well.

Byron and Jess' relationship, even from just the introduction that we got, seems to be very rocky, and while we hope that Jess doesn't let that interfere with his case, we do know that there will be more tension in the LaCroix household. We didn't get too much of an introduction with Marie, besides the fact that she tried to stop her fiancee Byron and her soon-to-be step-son Jess from bickering - but with Jess' mother and father not on talking terms, we wonder if Jess might tell his mother. Marie and Byron have been together for two years, something he just told his son - so the oh-we're-dating to oh-we're-engaged escalation was way too quick for Jess (and us) to handle.

Even fans that watched the premiere episode were so sure that Jess wouldn't react well - "Jess wasn't feeling the news of that at all. A conversation that is far from over but on a lighter note, that was an enjoyable season premiere. Weekly FBI profiling done at its finest is officially is back in my home. YESSSSS!!!!  #FBIMostWanted," wrote one fan. Another added, "Girlfriend is going to be broke after Jess's daddy bets her money on the horses. #FBIMostWanted." Yet another simply said, "Oh no! Jess' father is getting married and Jess is not happy! #FBIMostWanted."
