‘Fatal Seduction’ Episode 4 Review: Does Jacob have an ulterior motive to be with Nandi? Private investigator Vuyo has a theory
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix’s new South African series ‘Fatal Seduction’ is all about exploring the thrill and deceit of an extramarital affair, and the stray murders that may come along with it. Nandi’s steamy affair with Jacob has gone way ahead while her husband, Leonard, now realizes he’s made mistakes in the past that distanced him from Nandi. Leonard throws a 20th-anniversary party where he confesses his love for Nandi and apologizes for all his past mistakes, including an affair with an assistant and constantly blaming Nandi for the miscarriage.
Nandi takes the apology but doesn’t entirely forgive Leonard for his past mistakes. Even though Nandi and Leonard end up sleeping together on their anniversary night, Nandi isn’t entirely sold on Leonard turning a new leaf. Jacob, however, is tracking Leonard and Nandi and sees them having sex from afar. He lusts for Nandi but that’s not the only reason he is pursuing his professor and lover, Nandi.
Is Jacob a criminal?
Vuyo, the PI who has been investigating Brenda’s murder, hasn’t given up on finding evidence against Jacob. He knows about Nandi’s and Jacob’s affair but doesn’t inform his brother Leonard. Instead, he believes that Jacob was the one who killed Brenda and is now after Nandi and her family to seek revenge. Vuyo uncovers Jacob’s past and finds out that his father was a man named Benjamin Chiba, a convicted child killer.
Benjamin’s case was investigated by Vuyo and Leonard was the judge in the case. Nandi’s husband is the reason why Jacob’s father went to prison. So Jacob now seeks revenge on Leonard by destroying his family — a plan he sets into motion by seducing the unhappy Nandi who has given up on Leonard. Vuyo deduces all this and tells Nandi who is still reluctant to believe his theory about Jacob. But Leonard is tense when he learns about Vuyo looking into the past and especially into Benjamin’s case.
Jacob continues to pester Nandi
Jacob has not given up on Nandi even if she reprimands him continuously. But still, Jacob finds a way to be near Nandi. He crashes Leonard and Nandi’s date and tries to be friendly with Leonard, all the while keeping his focus on Nandi. He even shadows them and watches them have sex. Nandi is furious when Jacob arrives unannounced at her date with Leonard and later slaps him for his actions. Jacob tries to convince Nandi that he loves her but Nandi is loathe to rekindle their affair, especially since Leonard has apologized for all his mistakes.
