There is something innately relaxing about farmhouses — their charm, the naturally lit rooms and the rustic vibe. All of this makes you instantly relax, take a deep breath and just unwind. They often feel like the perfect getaway, so it comes as no surprise that new homeowners and builders often try to emulate the same designs and feel into any home.

With design styles changing over time, it's hard to capture that truly rustic vibe or preserve the same. As more homes with history get torn down for cookie-cutter options, some people recognize the heritage of these places. Make way for Jonathan Knight as he gears up to take on New England's stunning yet old homes and gives them a new lease of life.

Release date

'Farmhouse Fixer' premieres on HGTV on Wednesday, March 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Plot

While modern designs and straight lines have their own aesthetic appeal, there is something absolutely charming about old-school designs. Jonathan Knight is here to save some classic homes and breathe fresh life into them. Alongside designer Kristina Crestin, this duo works to ensure that some timeless properties in New England stay just as eternal as ever.

As per HGTV, the show's summary states: "The nostalgia, charm and history behind New England farmhouses are a few of the reasons Jonathan Knight loves to restore old homes. With the help of his designer, Kristina, Jonathan works to keep that history alive by breathing new life into the homes."

Cast

Jonathan Knight

Born Jonathan Rashleigh Knight, Knight is most popular for his career as a singer. He was a part of a boy band called 'New Kids on the Block' between 1986 and 1994. Knight was the first to leave the group and later on to work in real estate and rarely made public appearances. His last stint on television was in 2015 when he and his partner Harley Rodriguez participated in the 26th season of the reality competition series 'The Amazing Race'.

Knight is no stranger when it comes to the cameras and having spent years in the real estate business, he definitely knows his way around a fixer-upper. In this new series, Knight combines his skill and talent to do just that, restore homes to their former glory.

Kristina Crestin

With a keen eye for design, Crestin runs Kristina Crestin Design, a residential interior design firm that handles interior decorating, interior architectural design and more. She is also no stranger to TV, seeing that she was a part of the team of 'This Old House' on Season 37 of the show. This time around, she joins Jonathan Knight as they take on New England and flip old farmhouses to their former glory. As per her bio on her website, "Kristina has extensive knowledge of all things interior. Her passion for what she does, coupled with her engaging positive attitude, allows each of her clients to truly enjoy their unique design journey."
