NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Tributes poured in on social media after Brandon 'Boogie B' Montrell, a popular TikToker star and comedian was shot dead after being caught in the crossfire of a gunfight in New Orleans on Friday, December 23. At the time, Montrell was out shopping for groceries for his grandmother at a supermarket. The TikTok star, 43, was gunned down outside a Warehouse District grocery store as he sat in his car. Fans from all around the world have paid respect to Montrell following his tragic death.

New Orleans police have confirmed that Montrell was not the intended target of the attack. The firing took place between two men in the store's parking lot. Montrell was home from LA for Christmas. Fans paid tribute to Montrell on Twitter, with one user saying, "While brother Boogie B was rising star in the world of standup...many of us knew him for his NOLA Hood History. His final video was about 7th ward Santa. Man this is going to be a sad Christmas in New Orleans." "Rest in peace comedien boogie b who gave us such great history of New Orleans on TikTok. This is so unnecessary. Why are y’all making the city so dangerous to exist?" another user wrote. "They really killed my man’s New Orleans Hood History aka Comedian Boogie B If it wasn’t for him I would’ve never known good places to go to or even more history about NOLA R.I.P," one user said.

"This news saddens me so much. I have lived in NOLA for 17 years and came across Boogie B and his "New Orleans Hood History" on Tiktok. I learned so much about the city and its history and in particular the distinct history of each of the different Wards in the city," one user said, while another wrote, "They really killed Boogie B right before Christmas that is so heartless that man was a light on social media TikTok will never be the same". One user said, "Let me stress y'all out right fast...RIP Boogie B. Thank you for the laughs and the New Orleans history lessons."

Montrell was popular for his 'Hood History' series of videos. In the clips, he presented historic locations throughout Crescent City, but his take would be humorous. The comedian had recently been living in LA to pursue his career in entertainment but was in New Orleans to spend his holidays at the time of the tragedy.
