LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix’s action-packed thriller film ‘Extraction 2’, directed by Sam Hargrave is set to captivate fans with gripping combat scenes, intense action stunts, and thrilling chases on June 16. The movie stars Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a fearless and determined individual, who goes above and beyond to fulfill his directive. Action buffs are excitedly comparing Tyler Rake in 'Extraction 2' to ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ which showcases John Wick's exceptional gun-fu techniques. While fans question who’d win if they ever clashed, ‘Extraction 2’ director Sam Hargrave has his winner.

The upcoming lineup of action films in 2023 showcases a roster of incredibly resilient and formidable heroes, considered among the toughest in the genre's history. Earlier this year, fans acclaimed the outstanding new chapter of ‘John Wick’ series where Keanu Reeves reaffirms his unparalleled expertise in gun-fu, showcasing his mastery once again, while fans eagerly await Tom Cruise's resilient Ethan Hunt in ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One’ later this year.

However, in the midst of these two epic thrilling protagonists, emerges a new hero, Chris Hemsworth's Tyler Rake, who showcased excellent intensity and survived challenging situations in 'Extraction' to make his comeback in 'Extraction 2'. As fans express their excitement over these seemingly invincible heroes, they eagerly speculate and debate about who would win in an epic battle. Both characters have passionate and devoted fan bases and so the debate seems unresolvable. Regarding this, Sam Hargrave shared his thoughts, expressing his support for Tyler Rake.

‘Dude’s a badass, so there’s no debate’

‘Extraction 2’ director Sam Hargrave shared his insights into what would happen in an epic battle between the two heroes. During his conversation with Collider, he openly admitted to being biased, saying, "That's one of the greatest questions of all time, and it's tough because, you know, I'm partial to the character of Tyler Rake." It’s pretty much obvious that he’s giving the upper hand to his hero over Wick, especially since he is intimately associated with Tyler Rake’s character and knows what he’s capable of. He continued, "I'm going to take away John Wick's bulletproof suit and give it to Tyler Rake. The dude's a badass, so there's no debate."

Talking about John Wick’s character, the icon has risen to a billion-dollar franchise where further chapters get more intense as the stories go on. Throughout his journey in the realm of assassins, John Wick has faced numerous challenges and overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Despite enduring setbacks, he consistently rises from the ashes, seeking revenge and achieving a near-legendary status within the cinematic universe of the films. Although Hargrave explains that he is not discrediting any of Baba Yaga’s accomplishments, he believes that the ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ ending might hint that John can be taken down.

He exclaimed, “No! No one– John Wick is a verb now, like to John Wick someone, that’s a thing. He's a legend onscreen in his movies, and yet he's a legend now as an action icon. So no, that dude doesn't go down without a fight, but the fourth movie proves he can go down! And we've proven that our guy can be killed and brought back from the dead, so you gotta give it to Tyler Rake. A long, hard-fought battle, to be sure, but I think you gotta go with Tyler Rake."

John Wick and Tyler Rake would have an epic showdown

Sam Hargrave joked that ‘John Wick’ franchise director Chad Stahelski wouldn’t hesitate to pick Wick, adding, “Well, of course, he would, and it probably wouldn't even be a long…he’d be like, 'Nah, Wick,' in five seconds." Nevertheless, the fight between the two would be legendary and whether Chad brings the gun-fu style to the film or Hargrave applies stunning stunt skills, the latter claims, “It would be wildly different, but I think, hopefully, entertaining no matter how you cracked it because those two guys in a scene together would be insane, let’s be honest."

'Extraction 2' is set to stream on Netflix on June 16, 2023.
